Williamson Mound via Rim Trail and Gorge Trail is a 1.9 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Cedarville, Ohio that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Well marked, 3 mile round trip hike! I recommend starting taking the rim trail to the falls and then take the gorge trail on the way back (then you don't have to climb up a lot of stairs). The trail can also get pretty muddy.
Great views and mostly an easy hike with some moderate sections thrown in.
Beautiful trail - I took both the rim & gorge routes to make a loop. I also went to the mound, which was really cool & peaceful and also had a ton of different birds in the area. The waterfall did not disappoint but the gorge trail was a nice surprise. There was a light snow covering so much of the trail was muddy but still easily passable. Highly recommend.
Definitely go back to see the Christmas lights on the falls
I had not hiked this trail for several years when my sons were younger and I had forgotten how nice this trail is. Beautiful along the creek and well marked. I prefer to take the trail down to the creek and then follow the rim trail back, but either way a great hike!
Overall, a very good and beautiful hike. There were a few points along the trail where it wasn't marked clearly which way to go. We did all trails (the mound, the gourge, the falls, and the rim) in about 1.5 hrs.
beautiful trail! took my dogglins along and they loved it. nice and shady with a cool crisp smell with the gentle babble in the background. moderate traffic, I went on a slightly rainy weekday and passed a couple of families and a few dog walkers. I would highly recommend taking the gorge trail at least one way back (just remember to stay along under the cliff side when the trail gets sketchy). good way to pass a hour and soak in some nature
Wonderful day hike- really amazing- you feel like you are in total wilderness so close to the city. Great getaway. Easy hiking with optional steps. Scenic views, well maintained.
Easy to get to, but I would disagree with some of the previous posts. The paths are marked, but not well. There’s a query where people hang out, and swim. It’s a very wooded area, a lot of terrain, and you may end up walking across some shallow water. Good for dogs, not great for small kids, if you go during the early evening it’s easy to get off the path so bring “getting lost” supplies/phone/light. It’s a short path, and I’m always over prepared! I’d go back. The waterfall and creek were cool! Cheers!
