Shoreline Long Loop is a 5.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Akron, Ohio that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking.
A little chilly today, which was good for mud. You really need to follow the app. It puts together several trails to get the 5.5. You do see shoreline and it also has a woodsy feel. I would hope they mark it a little better so your not looking at your phone the whole time. We liked it and will try it again. Suggestion, would be to park by the dog park and walk towards the water you will see the sign for SL.
if the temperature was 10° warmer this would have been a mighty trail. but, low to mid-20s, this was fantastic. Do this trail wildest frozen.
Jan 3rd not a bad day in Northeast Ohio. Few wet areas but that's to be expected around a lake.
we had read other reviews, and we're concerned about the trail. the leaves were off the trees and there we're two fellas playing disc golf, we followed them around for a ways to see what it was all about. the trail is beautiful especially being able to see through all the trees. we will be back when it might be just a little warmer.
The wooded section on the eastern section has a ton of downed trees. I hopped over at least 6 fairly large trees, and I had to venture off trail once. I saw a healthy fox darting through the trees in this section, not far from the main driveway into the park. The end of this trail (or the beginning, depending on where you start) runs right along the disc golf course; the people playing didn’t seem to care that there’s a trail running nearby. If I hike here again, I’ll likely do the eastern wooded section and figure out a way to shortcut back. I would have rather done a road walk than hike the remainder of the trail. And please pack out your trash if the cans are full. There are dumpsters near the beach and someone placed a small kitchen sized trash can near one of the disc golf holes, but it was overflowing with beer cans and dog poop bags.
Didn't stay on this long. This is a good trail of you are disc golfing but just to hike it's not great. Also quite a lot of trash left around. Needs some TLC for sure.
Have you ever taken a trail that had a horrible rating, just to see how awful it really is? Well I just did. Everything that and you hear about this trail is totally true. For being called the Shoreline Trail there is barely any shoreline, there are some areas with down trees which are passable, but there’s also some that make this trail completely impassable. The lack of signage is really bad. Without AllTrails and watching the map at every intersection, I would have gotten even more lost than I already did. It also goes through the middle of a disc golf course, which is super weird, and it has a large section of trail that doesn’t even exist anymore. When I say that, I don’t mean that it’s overgrown, no it completely doesn’t exist and has been turned into what maybe will turn into little ponds? I’m not quite sure, but it’s weird. You can cut through the gas cut though to skip that non existing part of the trail though. I’ll see if I can update the map on here to reflect that modification.
Section of trail to the left of the bay was wiped out when an area for lake dredging material was built. Not correct on any maps. Have to walk a gas pipeline in that area. Very few trail marking. Many can't find the trail after road crossings. There are posted trail map signs at several locations (not updated for dredging fill area). Tree blow downs were an issue earlier this summer but they have been cleared except on the peninsula. There is a gravel road that can be walked there.
There was a section that was on the saved trail but that didn’t exist in person. We found a utility road that lead us back to the real trail. It wasn’t along the shore as much as we expected either. We won’t be doing this one again!
Poor Blazing, trees down, gas line construction obliterated part of trail... and is my long n/s straight stretch. Easy walking, a little maintenance and it would be 5 stars
Aweful trail.. No shade , no marking of the trail detour or which way to go. I actually said F it and turned around. Not worth walking back and forth trying to way the right way. I wouldn’t give this trail one start but the app dose not allow it
As of June 3, 2020 - this trail is in very poor condition than it used to be. Multiple down trees, no trail markers or it completely ends. If it wasn’t for this app - I wouldn’t have be able to follow the trail. This used to be an enjoyable hike - it seems that ultimate frisbee has become a higher priority than this trail at this park.
