I took my dog. We didn’t run into anyone on the entire trail. Hike was definitely challenging in the beginning ( we started from Caldwell lake and went counter clockwise. So it was good to get the hard part outa the way first. At about 2.5 miles the top of the hill opened to a gorgeous view. Made the while trip worthwhile. The part by the fire tower wasn’t even a trail. I followed the map on here and that part of the trail is totally overgrown. I should have bypassed that part and taken the road for a bit. Other part just last the smaller lake was not marked well at all so by following the map on here I was able to stay in track.

Pretty good overall. The parts I traveled were well kept or roads.

This trail is a long, up and down type of hike. Be prepared to be out of breath over a few of those hills. A few sections need trimmed up a little as well as 3 spots that had trees completely blocking the trail. There were also 4 stream/creek crossing, not bad due to no rain in a day or two. The bottom part of the trails were following creeks and streams, sometimes the trail was the stream! Be prepared for the ticks! Overall, great views and park. Dog friendly

We had so much fun on this loop!!!Personally I almost prefer the “rundown” trails that are more secluded; we didn’t pass a single other person once we got away from the lake and onto the path. We went in April and saw so much awesome greenery and flowers along the trail, and avoided the spiderweb issue that others warned about (though with the trails being so narrow I could definitely see that being annoying later in the season). My warning would be that this is SO HILLY and very difficult at first. Extreme inclines that just keep going and going, then straight back down again. It felt a little unnecessary as there were no particular reasons for the trail going there? A good workout I guess lol. We were sore the next day! If you want to avoid a lot of that I’d just skip past point a and b. There’s still a pretty massive hill later but the view is so worth it this time! Opens way out and you can see the mountains for miles. We got a little lost and ended up going closer to 8 miles but all in all I really enjoyed this and would definitely go back for the views.

Some long stretches of this trail are unsafe, and should be closed until they are properly maintained. Large sections have naturally closed due to heavy overgrowth and/or downed trees, making the trail indistinguishable. My skin and clothing were shredded by miles of sections overgrown with thick briars. Non-stop spiderwebs for the entire trail. Basically just bushwhacking; this is as bad as it gets.

The hike started out clearing spiderwebs and continuing to do so for the entire trip. I don’t think these trails are hiked much. The further in I went the worse the trails got there were spot that they weren’t maintained at all. There was some beauty in spot but the effort it took to get to it wasn’t worth it for me. I will not be hiking this trail again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone either.

Did all trails today, Very strenuous hills, whoever made trails did not know how to make a switchback! This is Not a loop trail, it is several trails to equal the six miles! The lakes are nice and picturesque!
