Great trail! It’s very family-friendly, and it is very easy to hike. You see some beautiful Appalachian woods and a large cave at the end. It’s a great trail to teach your kids about local plant life.

A big buck walked right by me as I was sitting on a bench up at the top where the Scarlet Oak part of the trail starts. Don't know how or why he didn't see me, but he walked by me, stood on the edge of a cliff looking down at the Rock House for a good 10 seconds until he finally realized I was behind him, and then he shot of down the hill. Beautiful!

The rock house (a cave made by an overhang) at the end is fantastic! It has a wooden deck and benches. The trail to the rock house is completely paved with a gradual incline and many benches along the way. This part of the trail is wheelchair accessible. Absolutely great for little kids and elderly, and the rock house is well worth seeing by anyone! What I'm confused about, however, is the "to Scarlet Oak Loop" part. I made it up to what I THINK was Scarlet Loop, but only after a VERY steep climb that was nothing even close to easy. Maybe there is some other way up to the path, but I couldn't find it, and this was the way other people were going. The climb up should DEFINITELY be rated "hard" and the first little bit would be "moderate." Only after you cross the road and get back onto a badly paved trail could it be called easy again. Whether this really was the way you're supposed to go or I got lost, it is NOT well marked.

It’s okay trail. It is a little confusing which markers to follow. You follow yellow to blue to red. Not hard trail at all.

Very nice hike with great scenery. It can be a little crowded so go early if you want to avoid people. Plenty of benches to take a break if you need to.

This is a very pretty place to hike and even kid friendly. When it rains you will have an awesome waterfall in the back and rocks to climb under. It’s peaceful to take a moment and set there for a bit.
