Not so much excited than expected. But not too bad. Nice breezy corridor, leaves carpet all the way to the end. Nice exercise totally.

HikingGreat!

This loop combines the great Perkins Trail with the least interesting section of Riding Run. Instead of this loop, keep the Perkins Trail section, and swap the Riding Run portion of this loop with the portion omitted, and you’ll have a good hike.

Good but it had an old road that was flat asphalt.

Very crowded at beginning of trail. Perkins trail and part of riding run were very nice, wooded, hilly dirt path. However a large chunk of riding run was on an old road, level and flat, painful for walking

Great hike, nice open trails with some narrow paths in the beginning. Nice and quiet once you get about a mile out from the bridge.

Good workout with some decent inclines. Scenery will be stunning in about two weeks when the leaves are all changing

Peaceful and lovely hike with plenty to see if you are the kind of person who looks around and appreciates the small details and quiet beauty of nature. Get ready for some uphill spurts though!

Very scenic trail with a few steep hills. Not really well marked and we lost cell service so we ended up going an extra mile. It was still good though, two steams to cross, not deep though. I’ll be doing this one again.

This was such a BEAUTIFUL trail to hike!! A beautiful start with walking into the covered bridge and on the closed road for a bit, but then into the woods you go, crossing of the creek in several places, and includes some good hills to get your heart rate up!! I will definitely hike this again!!

The Perkins Trail fantastic option if you are looking for a scenic hike in the woods with lots of incline. The stream crossings are really beautiful as well.

HikingGreat!

I'm leaving my first AllTrails review because these trails were awesome (and there is a recent negative review). I said "Holy shit!" once I got onto Perkins Trail. Absolutely gorgeous! A lot of vert for Northeast Ohio too! Like others said there are a few creek crossings, but there are a lot of rocks to step on if you don't want wet feet. In mid-August there were a lot of bird and insect sounds, chipmunks and squirrels running about, and very few other people. I think I saw 3 the entire time after the parking lot passed Everett Covered Bridge. The section on the road is like .2 miles and that road is closed now so it was very quick and easy. The only negative was that there must be a shooting range nearby and there were gunshot sounds the ENTIRE 2+ hours I was out. Otherwise, super awesome diverse trail with water access, topography, wildlife, gorgeous trees, and peace:) I'll see if I can figure out how to upload GPS. Enjoy!!

Hiked this on my husbands birthday- we were a little confused starting out not sure we picked up the trail in the right direction- cut across a few rivers and the trail markings were confusing - overall ok

Great trail. Nice and cool due to tree cover. Few creeks to cross and allow puppies to play!

The only decent thing you'll see is the Everett Covered Bridge which is less than 1/4 mile from the parking lot/starting point trail head of this hike...and the bridge isnt really all that. Horses are allowed on this trail so you'll see and have to avoid horse poop for most of the hike. It has a couple of decent inclines and is well marked. Would not recommend doing this hike when it's wet as it will get extremely muddy. Visitors/travelers not from around here, dont be fooled by the many reviews and high rating of this trail...the locals here dont get out much. Another overrated trail at CVNP.

This trail was more on the difficult side, but well worth it. It was so beautiful, I had to cross a creek a few times, but it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t a heavily trafficked trail either, I would say I saw 5 or 6 people on the trail. Some of the other trails near by are way worse so I think that is not a lot. However, it was a pretty hot and muggy day too. Once you get to a certain point it turns into tire tracks almost for a short time and then turns down to one small path that is overgrown quite a bit. It gets better, but if thats not your thing then this might not be for you. I know bugs come with the territory, but there was a lot of horse poop in a certain section of the trail so I felt the bugs were pretty bad. Bug spray would be good to have. Certain parts had a lot of elevation changes up and down, that were a bit steep so I suggest poles or sticks. I can see where this trail would be bad after it rains and would probably flood.

There were a few trees down across the trail, but it was a beautiful day for a hike and we loved walking along the ridge with the sun shining through and the breeze blowing through our hair!
