I have done this trail once before and would like to go back! Can anyone confirm that this is the trail with the "overlook" with a couple benches up top?

Great Trail. You will run into few people if any. We went up and down the three ravines vs. crossing the bridges. Crossing the bridges I view as a foolish and risky undertaking. Have fun. Be safe.

Beautiful hike on a beautiful morning. Low temps, no humidity and a nice breeze.

You can park your car at Marcs at the intersection of RT 82 and Holzhauer Rd. Walk south down Holzhauer to reach the trail head. Makes for a nice loop.

This trail starts along the towpath, which is very busy. Once the actual trail starts, it is gorgeous and pretty quiet. A lot of interesting native american history along the way and the condemned bridges were so cool to see! A great adventure. The trails were clear and the bugs were minimal, too.

50 foot ravine, for comment below

This was an interesting trail, I wouldn't say it was hard it was pretty easy but I have been hiking for a few years now. When you start the trail there is a sign saying that the bridges are closed about 1.5 miles ahead. They are closed due to being condemned. Myself and my partner did go across them 3 in total due to someone removing a cross beam. They supported us and seemed ok to cross but I advise you do so at your own risk as they are condemned for a reason and they are taking you over a 500 foot ravine. Once you cross the bridges the trail starts to lose some of the markings as it is now longer being maintained. We saw a lot of deer and other animals who were shocked in seeing us but it was worth it. Again there are 3 bridges in all various conditions and that if you do proceed make sure to cross at your own risk.

Easy hike for those with experience and some interesting sights along the way.

Closer parking to trailhead would be nice but it's a good hike.

I started at Red lock trailhead. trail was good bridges are out so be careful a lot of dangerous terrain if you are looking to detour. Probably not best for people without hiking experience.

This is what you make of it. The towpath is paved, along with much of the trail. If you get off the trail you can find some great hills and elevation. The bridges were closed when I was out there so I had to take a couple of steep detours. Makes for a fun adventure.

To find this trail, go to the end of Holzhauer road in Northfield. I parked at the Marc's grocery store and walked the 0.75 miles to get to the trail.

As of November 2015, the 3 bridges are still condemned but you can cross underneath the bridge.

Nice trail, one of the better ones in the area. Hardest part was bypassing the bridges.

I looked for this place last week and my gps lead me to someone's driveway. Where did I go wrong??

Used to do this trail years ago when the bridges were open. Tried it again yesterday and was proud to complete it, despite two large trees fallen across the trail and the three condemned bridges. Path is steep at the beginning and the end connects with a bike path. Overall, a great workout!

Nice hike through the NE Ohio woods. There is some history along the trail where it is thought that the native americans may have used part of the area for gatherings, farming, or some other non-warfare related activities.

As David noted, three condemned bridges add a bit of a challenge, but no problems in completing the hike.

No blazes on the trail. None needed as the trail is pretty clear. 3 old bridges are condemned. Traversing the ravines was a bit of a challenge but not awful to do, in fact, it made it more fun for me. Plenty of wildlife. Spent about 2 miles on the towpath to and fro.
