This is a little-known, rarely used nature preserve not far off of US Route 50 in Athens County. It is very well maintained, with the initial sections of the loop leaving the parking lot even being mowed. Every creek crossing is bridged and none of the up or downhill sections are overly steep or strenuous. At the top of the loop a spur trail, known as the High Meadow Trail, branches off for a fairly level 1/2 mile (one way) out and back addition to your walk. It may have been a meadow at one time, but now it's being given back to forest, and the stroll is through young growth.

Great trail for a novice runner. It's a perfect beginners length, not a lot of elevation, but still it has some hills, so it's not just flat the whole time. It has lots of straight flat sections for sprinting, mixed with changes in elevation and bends combine for a really nice morning run. I think it would be a little too boring for me to come hiking here, but I imagine it might be nice for birdwatching. One downside is that it's right next to the highway, so the traffic is loud.

A tidy trail with excellent spring ephemerals and a wide variety of native plants. Great for birding. A quick two miles, half the trail is low and half is ridge top. One of my favorite places as I rarely see others there.

A great preserve for quiet solitude. Don't go expecting a blow-your-mind hike but for what it is, this trail is very nice, and very well maintained. It's close to our house so we try to walk it a couple of times a month. Be sure to check out the beaver pond!
