Not quite spring out there, but it was pleasant. I did not care for the fighter jets flying overhead. This app continually crashes throughout the hike so it doesn’t show the full mileage. I never had this much trouble with the app.

Dry, smooth, no snow or mud. Controlled burn between Wilkins and Girdham, south side of the bike trail. Had to detour for the smoke.

Hiking

Started at T and followed the Yellow trail until NN and then followed the Red trail until T and went back to the parking lot. Horse trail so very choppy trail. Recently chopped down trees that are a mess. well marked though! some gravel some mud. all in all not bad.

BackpackingFee

You have to camp at the group campsite if you do this trail and must have a permit. Did not read ahead of time and ranger visited us in the morning. He was great, but could have been bad. They also say you can't collect fire wood. This really is only for beginner backpackers if you're going to make it a 2 day. Very flat, not much to see, and you're always within ear shot of traffic or train tracks. That being said, very well marked even with multiple trail crossings.

It was ok. Completely flat. Lot of people. No real things to see, just the same woods for the entirety. Except for all the pines they’ve cut down for “resource management.”

Hiking

Some reviews of this part of the trail state that it is overgrown, but I didn’t see that issue. After the bike trail section and up until reaching the Cannonball trail, there was absolutely no one out. Very quiet (except the section along 20) and peaceful.

HikingBlowdownGreat!

November 16, 2020. Great day on the trail. Started at Girdham Rd. to White Oak Campground and back. Went four miles before I realized I hadn’t turned on the recorder. About 10.3 miles total. A lot of trees down after the high winds yesterday.
