Start at the parking place for Lily Pond. Be sure to look for the giant turtles and large gold fish as you go by. Come down to W.West Drive to take the bridge at the south tip of Lake Glacier. From there the trail goes along Mill Creek, passing Pioneer Pavilion, the Cinderella Bridge and going on to Lanterman's Mill. At this point cross over the covered bridge to continue going along the creek to circle around the west side of Newport Lake. At the southern tip of the lake, be sure to cross the little bridge to Smith Island that contains a boardwalk leading through an area of wetlands with lookout platforms, well worth the extra few steps. The main trail is picked up at the parking lot by the bridge and weaves around to the east side of Mill Creek and Newport Lake. Follow the trail past Daffodil Meadow (beautiful in the springtime), again along Mill Creek back to the cover bridge. Cross the bridge again to go on the west side of Mill Creek up to Princess Bridge. Shortly after the bridge the general trail will continue along close to the Creek. At the "V" crossing, take the trail to the left. This will go uphill just below Cascade Road and lead to a series of wooden steps and a beautiful view of a natural cascading waterfall. At the top, cross the bridge to catch an upper trail leading to the right. This trail will lead back down to the main trail, along Lake Cohasset and to Pioneer Pavilion. To the left there will be a historical marker for the first blast furnace that was built in the area in the 1820's. Here the Artist's trail begins and ends at W. West Drive. Cross the street and go left around the public restrooms, up a small hill to get to the trail that leads back to Lily Pond.

Fun escape from the city, one of my favorite trails in Ohio, Lily Pond is full of Turtles and Ducks. Went during a strong rain the Creeks and streams were absolutely beautiful.

Spend an hour on one of the easier loops at Mill Creek Park. This trail starts off flat, wide and level from the gorgeous Suspension Bridge parking area and heads North/Northwest through a forest, along the Mill Creek as it widens into Lake Cohasset. Lucky hikers will see frogs, turtles, Heron and ducks along the lake shorts and small islands and sandbars.

After crossing the bridge and road and Pioneer Pavilion, hikers head South along the opposite shore and are treated to a number of great views of the lake before heading up into the forest again (follow the green badges). There are plenty of opportunities to extend your hike with a number of small trails that split off from the main trail, leading to Amphitheaters, bridges, ravines and other features before ending your hike back at the Suspension Bridge.

Why Mill Creek Park doesn't re-organize their trail maps to show loops instead of random one-way trails, I'll never know. At least there is AllTrails!

This is definitely my favorite hike at Mill Creek and one of my all time favorites in Ohio. It is unbelievable that this beautiful strip of nature runs through the middle of the city. The hike as suggested makes a figure 8 trail through the park and includes the best scenes and trails that the park offers.

Nice park! Not a hard hike and great views of wild in the city. This park is what you make of it. Enjoy the outdoors for being out doors and that it’s there. After all it could just be a parking lot like in so many cities.

I hiked with my daughters, 10 & 13. Lots of places to stop and explore. We hiked quickly to the end and then let my 10 year old explore on the way back. Recommend waterproof hiking shoes.

Beautiful morning hike. We saw twin fawns playing in the forest with their mother nearby. Also, a family of ducks climbed down the dam overspill... Never saw that before. The wildlife was awesome on this fairly easy hike.
