After talking with local residents I discovered there is another parcel of land considered part of the Thurston State Park. This is the North Turkey Foot Area and it is on the West Bank of the Maumee River on Old State Rt 24. There is one hiking / biking loop around of perimeter of the park which is about 4 miles. The trail starts out as a wide manicured double track, but quickly changes to a neglected overgrow single track. There were several blow downs blocking the portion of the trail along the river. Trash and broken glass was also scattered along the trail. This park is obviously a casualty of budget cuts. This is a shame.

Big dissappointment! Alltrails had it listed as a MTB location, but it isn't! There are a few nature walk type trails and a few dirt and gravel roads but not much else. Would be a good place to take the family for a picnic. There is a boat ramp and marina if thats your thing. There are some nice river views and there is a canal that bypasses the dam at Grand Rapids which is interesting.

According to the park's website, there are 6 miles worth of trails in this park, but the biggest loop is only 3 miles. Six miles is the total of all trails combined in the park. I completed this hike years ago, the scenery is great; at times you can walk along the river, and there are a few small foothills. Also, in town, on the other side of the river, there are (at least when I was last there) some fun little shops and eateries; as well as a canoe livery.
