Beautiful scenery. Not much elevation. Ledges trail had a decent amount of people, but connecting trail and pine grove trail were nearly empty!

Beautiful views of the ice caves. Mostly trees the rest of the way. Overlook near the start. Nice hike.

Fun trail mostly through the woods with some elevation changes and cool rock formations. Just over four miles and just over an hour and a half. We appreciated the shade on a hot summer day!

The Pine Grove Trail and Ledges Trail combined make for a great scenic afternoon hike. There’s a few trees that have fallen across the path on the Pine Grove Trail, but they are easy to cross.

Extremely overcrowded until I got to the connecting trail then it was great. Plenty to see! Will definitely return in colder weather when there's hopefully less people!

Beautiful, fun hike. After the ledges trail, I hiked over to the lake to eat a snack, and then did the pine cove trail before heading back to the car. Fairly crowded on the ledges trail, but worth it. Kid-friendly.

I love this trail. Had a hard time finding the Grove Trail loop but ended up doing the Ledges, Grove and a good part of the octagon trail. Nice secluded trail I’ll be back soon

Nice trail. Rock formations are only on ledges trail. The rest is just a trail in the woods. Lots of traffic on the whole thing too.

Beautiful, mostly shade , easy loop to follow. We parked at Kendal Lake and walked across the street to the connecting trail.

Wonderful trail. My now wife and I hiked this trail a couple years ago on a little get away. Can’t wait to return someday with our three boys.

It’s nice to combine these 2 trails to get a little better hike in. I don’t recommend following the route shown on this trail map as you miss some of the most impressive slump rock on the Ledges loop. Instead, do the Pine Grove loop all the way around and return to the Ledges trail on the same connector you used to get to Pine Grove. Pine Grove is deserted compared to the Ledges loop. It is nothing spectacular, just a nice walk through a mixed forest with pine, oak, ash, and maple trees. It is completely shaded and offers some solitude. Fall color should be decent as well. Ledges is one of the most popular trails in CVNP with good reason. The slump rock formations are impressive and the view from the overlook is excellent (particularly in the fall). As we did it, the trail was just under 4 miles. Side note, if you don’t need to see the trailhead for maps, I recommend parking in the Octagon lot. It has more shade and there is a little path that will start you on the Ledges loop.

a surprise snow storm on the last day of March meant the trail was freshly powdered and pretty empty the Sunday we made it out there. it was a little muddy and I imagine will only get worse as spring melts every thing down and brings lots of rain. will definitely be back to explore even more of the trails in the area.
