Please note caves are closed to protect bat population. From the parking lot go to the trail sign with the roof. From here you will follow the paved road until you come to a crossroads with a bench and a descriptive sign, go right. You will come to a dead end in which you choose to go left or right, go right for now. You will now begin the first of two outer loops, you will cross a road, and then some restrooms. Just past the restrooms is possibly the most confusing way finding sign on the trail. You can take the spur trail to look over the ledge into the valley, but to stay on the trail take the one just to the left of that. This area is confusing because it is the intersection for trails in five different directions. If you have followed the correct trail you will now be walking below the ledges (they are quite impressive in scale). You will then come to the display sign and bench again (you will visit this crossroads a total of three times), keep walking straight until you come to the same dead-end sign, this time go left. You are now walking the second part of the outer loop. Now you really need to use your navigation skills because the signs on your part of the trail do not include information for the Ledges Trail. Here they begin to give you directions to Happy Day, but that is the Ledges Trail. But they will not use that logic the second time and you will need to follow the Octagon Trail to your left instead of Happy Days to your right. The third time you will want to ignore the Octagon Trail and use the Overlook directional that takes you up the stairs. This will bring you back to the Ledges Shelter trail, take that trail. This brings you back to the directional sign with a bench at the crossroads (your third visit). From the crossroads head to your right and back to the trail sign with the roof and the parking lot.

Easy hike. Got here early and pretty empty but very busy when leaving 2 hours later. We have a 6&4 year old who led the way so we have a slower pace. Hiking counterclockwise seemed to be largely ignored at that point in the day. The first 3/4 of trail was empty and just as beautiful as the last 1/4 that was swarming with people. We’ll come back again when things have settled down or mid week when not so busy. Worth the trip!

Love this area, even though it was a bunch of traffic because of the Holiday weekend. 3 hour drive from Michigan was worth it!

Great walk through the woods. Loved the huge moss covered rocks- such fantastical shapes. It was fun to scramble around amongst the rocks. Even though the ice cave was closed, there’s still plenty to see and do. It’s a nice walk all in the shade as the entire path is covered in trees except for one area along the field. Not much elevation change and plenty of options that I think hikers of any skill level could manage.

Such a fun trail! I was not expecting to be blown away by this trail but was quite surprised at how unique and beautiful the ledges were. I came all the way from Maryland and I’m glad I made the trip. It was a bit crowded, but still very enjoyable. I got a little turned around where the trails crossed paths, but just followed the map in this app. 10/10 - would love to come visit again

Of all the hiking at Cuyahoga Valley, I think this is probably the tops. Really pretty green colors throughout, the lookout wasn’t spectacular but the rock formations and terrain made it interesting.

Ledges were beautiful and the hike was fun.

My favorite trail in the park, the ledges and cliffs are about as good as it gets in Ohio. The overlook has to be one of the best views in the whole state!!

Was out that way about 4 months ago and had a nice walk through the snow. Got a few good photos. Easy hike with relatively flat ground. I think the snow made it better.

We loved this trail. It’s as close to a mountain you will get in Ohio. There is so much to see and has many options to switch to a different trail so you never take the same trail twice. We went on a cloudy week day and were there pretty much all alone.

Beautiful trail, must hike! Hiked clockwise followed ledges trail markers and used the map. Our hike didn’t end up matching the description exactly but we made it back just farther up from start/stop point. Directions are a little confusing at times if not familiar with area.

Beautiful trail. We went last Friday and it was not crowded at all. It was a little chilly and drizzling, so that probably kept the crowds away. Will definitely be back!

Great trail through forest. Lost of shades. Good for hiking or morning jogging. Least amount of people in the morning. Make sure to check out bats caves on the your way. !!! But don’t bother the , please. Beautiful overlook view with tables and bbq pits for family picnic.

Love this trail, but it can get pretty crowded. The trail itself is narrow at parts, so be ready to wait for people to pass coming in the opposite direction.

Very nice trail for all abilities. Wooded throughout with some nice lookouts. Not very muddy even after resent rainfall. Pet friendly and moderately used. Good for hiking and trail running.

We were worried about it being too busy but even on a beautiful spring day, we were able to maintain a safe distance from people. We found starting from Happy Days Lodge and doing the Haskell Run Trail to start meant that we had the trail almost to ourselves for the first 45 minutes. There are so many great areas for scrambling and exploring on this trail; our 8 and 9 year old LOVED it. It definitely got busier as we got closer to the Ledges Shelter parking lot, but was still manageable. In order to reduce NP employee risk, the park bathrooms are closed but there are porta-potties (that definitely needed emptying) at the Ledges Shelter and at the Happy Days parking lot. A beautiful and manageable hike; highly recommend.

Do NOT hike here if you think you're going to be able to social distance. Way too many people who do not maintain the six-foot buffer.
