This is a nice trail with lot of stairs going up and down. There are steep inclines multiple times along the path. It can be very muddy as parts are fairly shaded and don’t get much sun. The trail is close to major roads so there is traffic noise during the entirety of the hike. Salt Run Trail is a fun trail of moderate difficulty with lots of hills and typically a lot of mud as well. It always makes for a great afternoon adventure. The Lake Trail and the Cross Country Trail can easily be accessed if you would like to extend the mileage of your hike.

Easy to Moderate in places. Can choose 1, 3, or 4.5 mile path. My parents and I did the 3 mile loop and it was a good amount of walking/hiking. Spots were muddy but it had rain the day before. Plants/trees were just starting to bud.

Pretty busy but good hike.

Decent being it rained a few days ago. Little muddy but not enough to ruin your day. Park service is requesting you travel in a clock wise loop. Great trail run, would recommend a slightly aggressive tread running shoe. Great valley views trees are starting to bud on the western side of the trail!

Pretty good trail. Muddy in spots from storms and rain a few days prior. Overall we had the trail to ourselves (saw about 6 people during our 2 hour walk).

The ground was still frozen so there was no mud. When it unthaws though I can imagine it will be extremely muddy.. I really enjoyed this trail. Very pretty. Can’t wait to go back when it gets warmer.

Salt Run is one of my favorite trails in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It goes up and down ravines, and can be one of the more challenging trails in the park. We had some strong winds and rain over the last couple of days and there are some limbs and trees that are covering the path, but it’s pretty easy to get around them. They are currently pretty muddy too, but it still makes for a great hike.

Beautiful rolling hills with mixes of conifers, and deciduous forest cut with streams and bridges. Crowded and muddy at times, especially by the lake.
