This is a moderate hike with an elevation of over 300 feet. Beautiful views of the valley and mountains at the top are worth it. This is a 1.6 mile trail. Since we went in Winter we were able to see trees, rocky outcroppings, a small cave, creeks, prairie grass and the surrounding mountains as we got up higher. In the spring I would think there will be flowers and all kinds of wildlife. At the top is a rock outcrop with beautiful views of the mountains. This trail will eventually be expanded to a 15 mile hike that will extend to the Shawnee State Forest.
Very nice place to hike. Scenery is excellent. It is a well-marked trail. It can be a little muddy in wetter seasons. Caves and a waterfall in the landscape and a great picnic area nearby.
Smooth, moderate trail that climbs steadily from the valley floor up to a high hill with sweeping views of the hills across and the valley below. Fairly well-taken care of trail and no trouble spots to mention. A nice trail in a quiet wilderness area.
It was a good little hike. We ended up continuing on the trail after the sign said trail end. It ended up taking us to a gravel road and we found our way back to the parking area after making the hike about 3 miles longer than it should have been. But overall it was a good hike.
