Hemlock was our start and end point for a big loop that we did that included Whispering Cave, Cedar Falls, Gorge Overlook, Old Man’s Cave and part of the Grandma’s/Buckeye Trails (about 10 miles round trip). There were some cool features along Hemlock/Whispering Cave. We were there really early and had the entire trail to ourselves. Later that morning the trail got pretty crowded. There are some parts where you have to scramble over rocks and tree roots. Also, understand that Hemlock descends into a gorge so you are climbing back up when you return. Not terribly difficult but after walking all of those other trails we definitely felt the ascent back up.

We tried this trial for the first time thinking as much as it was advertised being a new major attraction to the area it would be great. I was not impressed, some areas are easy going wooded, there is a very long annoying wooded stair step half way to the cliffs, then rooted rocky uneven up and down trails to get to the cliffs. Many told us it was not worth going to the end of the trail which is not really a loop.

The cliffs are cool but if you were looking for a moderate/easy trail to get there, not worth it.

7/11/18- Two women, 38 & 59. These two trails are very pretty and fairly easy to hike. We planned to do just the Hemlock Bridge trail at first but added the Whispering Cave trail because it was right there. Once we got to the rope bridge on the Hemlock trail we decided to keep going and hiked all the way to Cedar Falls. It’s was a lot longer than we had planned but very pretty once we got there. There are some more challenging areas on this trail. We did struggle on the way back because we were so tired and there is a lot of uphill climbing on the way back.

The cave is very cool and much less crowded than the others. Definitely worth checking out

Went on 10/21/17. Ample parking at trail head. I would rate the trail as mildly difficult (there are not many flat areas to walk, a good portion of the trail is on a decline down to the cave and incline back up). It took us an hour to walk down to the cave and back up to the parking lot. Age ranges on the trail varied from young to older, also saw several dogs on the trail. It was very busy and some of the trail is very narrow making it a little more difficult to safely walk past other people. My 10 year old daughter needed some help with parts of the trail (on some of the steeper declines). The cave is very large and pretty, though not as impressive as others in the area. It does have a lot of large rocks to sit on to rest while looking at the views (but with so many people in the cave at once, it turned more into a people-watching event). There was a small waterfall but it had dried down to a few drips (there hasn't been much rain in the area lately).

Overlook mostly overgrown. "Waterfall" at the cave was just a couple of drops, hardly an actual waterfall. Heavily trafficked, but ample parking. Cave is large and less crowded than Old Man's Cave but almost as impressive. As with the rest of the area, you will have ZERO cell service.
