I've been to Hocking Hills state park for decades now, but I've never been to this trail. I will have to say it's probably my favorite one now. I went in wet conditions and it wasn't too muddy. This run is basically made up of three trails, and they all are their own flavor. They each have their own look, and feel so you get variety. I will probably return.

Nice short out and back. Too many warning signs, kind of detracts from the natural surroundings. Beautiful cave overhang ledge and nice trail.

The trail was a pretty easy hike, our 4 year old didn't seem to have any issues. We hiked both Whispering Cave and Helmlock Bridge. Would recommend people wear proper shoes/boots for this trail.

The whispering cave was a sight to see! Beautiful views along the way on a somewhat moderate hike.

Trailhead starts in the parking lot at the Hocking Hills State Park Cabins, don’t follow the directions where All Trails takes you! The trail is nice and pretty short to the cave, make sure you where sturdy shoes as there’s a lot of decent on slippery trees roots/rocks. The suspended bridge is really cool! If you want to make this a loop to Old Mans Cave, the Upper Falls Loop Trail connects to the Bike Trail which will then take you to the “Whispering Cave Loop” which is not marked on All Trails or any of the Park maps yet. Ended up having to back track from the visitors center bc we couldn’t figure out where the connection was. Says it’s 1.2 miles from the visitor center back to the Hemlock Bridge Trail.

beautiful scenery

Great trail. A lot of people out today. People please don’t ignore posted signs and let kids climb on rocks-kid climbing on rock took a bad fall and cut his ear pretty good. Idiot parents, they are lucky he found his footing and stopped himself, this could have been tragic.

My wife and I took this trail on a Saturday. I was expecting a large crowd. We arrived mid morning and the traffic on the trail was light, however by the time we left in the early afternoon it was getting crowded. It is a wonderful trail and the cave is beautiful.

This trail has many different places you can explore and there are signs telling you which way to go and there are marked trees so you can tell if you are on the trail or not. There are multiple different trails you can go on as well that aren’t on this particular trail map but you won’t really get lost because of how well they mark the trails. We found a couple little sections that were off trail to go play in the creek as well which was quite refreshing! I definitely plan on coming back!

Took this from the Whispering parking lot down to cave and then to the old man- cedar falls part of the buckeye trail to broken rock. Very enjoyable besides crowds. Looking to go back in off season. Semi flat but still fun at points. Very thick beautiful forest.

Great trail with muddy areas. If you go after a good rain there are several small waterfalls along the way that come out of the rocky cliffs. Great for cooling off! Definitely need hiking boots. Saw several people struggling in tennis shoes and sandals.

This is a good shorter hike if you just go to the cave. You should be in moderate physical condition because they way back is steep uphill. Many out of shape people were having a very hard time. The path is mostly shaded. Cave at the end is very interesting. Good waterfall in May. Go early or late to avoid crowds. There is a small cave recess you can climb into on the way. If it's been raining it will be very muddy in some spots.

Beautiful! A bit slippery going down some hills, and there's a sign warning against taking the hike with snow or ice on the ground, but other than that, very safe and family-friendly. There's a small waterfall and a large cave very similar to Old Man's Cave. We brought our dog (who has never hiked) with us, and she was fine with the trails. Overall a great place, definitely recommend!

Hemlock was our start and end point for a big loop that we did that included Whispering Cave, Cedar Falls, Gorge Overlook, Old Man’s Cave and part of the Grandma’s/Buckeye Trails (about 10 miles round trip). There were some cool features along Hemlock/Whispering Cave. We were there really early and had the entire trail to ourselves. Later that morning the trail got pretty crowded. There are some parts where you have to scramble over rocks and tree roots. Also, understand that Hemlock descends into a gorge so you are climbing back up when you return. Not terribly difficult but after walking all of those other trails we definitely felt the ascent back up.

We tried this trial for the first time thinking as much as it was advertised being a new major attraction to the area it would be great. I was not impressed, some areas are easy going wooded, there is a very long annoying wooded stair step half way to the cliffs, then rooted rocky uneven up and down trails to get to the cliffs. Many told us it was not worth going to the end of the trail which is not really a loop. The cliffs are cool but if you were looking for a moderate/easy trail to get there, not worth it.
