After the waterfalls it's pretty avg if you're just doing this trail by itself. To make it a lil better, combine it with the Inman Trail (short loop at the top of the map)...they connect to one another. If you don't want to pay the parking fee at Glen Helen then park at John Bryan State Park (at the lower shelter area) and walk the extra mile in from there...you'll pass right by the Horace Mann statue, cross the street and you'll pick right up on this trail. Also this place is very crowded on nice weekends.

I’m a local and I love this trail! Easy to follow, but you do have to cross water on stepping stones (to take the full loop to the pine forest via lower birch trail), and climb a lot of rock stairs in the beginning and a few other parts of the trail. There were also a few muddy spots (nothing difficult, just a little sticky) and one patch of snow on the trail. The time it took included stopping to admire the pine forest and eat the sandwich I brought! The river was flowing and the waterfalls were beautiful today. There is a $5 parking fee at this starting point. Trails are also marked one way or two way due to COVID. I only saw 3 other groups, and all wore masks in passing. I recommend!

First time hiking a moderate rated trail and it was great...not too challenging but definitely not a walk in the park (pun intended). Good mix of elevations and great scenery. I think they should rename this the Burton Trail though, because the trees are definitely out of some Tim Burton movie!

Ample parking and good trails that were well maintained. However, there were literally zero trail markers. The map at the parking lot is basically useless. Trying to follow the pine trail was incredibly difficult because there are offshoot trails constantly with no markings! If you hike here, take your GPS enabled phone, because it's impossible to figure out what trail you're supposed to be on.

the pine Forest has been hit by hard winds. blowdowns everywhere. Hard to pass through. Sad to see it so bad. I've been hiking to the pine Forest for as long as I can remember.

Perfect fall day. Mid 50's with all sun. Active squirrels, fall wild flowers and the scent of the pine forest. Beautiful.
