Wide and well maintained! Not muddy. Pretty well varied and nice for a metro park!

The best Metro Park in Columbus even though it's an hour from Columbus. Hills for days, deep fern forests, rivers, pine groves, open sky along the ridge, and a variety of options and loops to give you a mile or ten at your discretion. Perfect for trail running and getting your hill climbers in shape for bigger things in wilder places, or simply because you'd have to go even further southeast to find bigger and badder hills. This 9 mile loop puts you on all the best trails here starting and finishing at the main lot.

I drove 40 minutes to this place because I read an article and these reviews indicating it was so wonderful. Sorry. What a waste of gas and my time! Boring! Nothing but some muddy paths alongside a joke of a creek. I was being eaten alive by bugs and yellow jackets. I’ll never return.

We took our family off the grassy path to an excellent hiking trail to an old barn off the Rockbridge cemetery path. Excellent views, lots of hills and flowering trees. The path was wide and not too rugged.

I have done the whole trail and greatly enjoyed it. Not a hard trail but the length makes up for it. Some very nice views and interesting visual spots. Not a lot of foot traffic either which makes this a peaceful trail.

Great trails, only did about 4.5-5 miles of it. Hopefully now that I know where to park, I’ll be able to do the full 8 mile another time. It was quite busy though probably due to Hocking Hills area being closed.

Very nice park with a lot of trail options. Well maintained and well marked. Lots of hills if you're looking for something of that sort.

What an awesome loop! Went counter clockwise. After .3 mile you cross the road and start a 400ft elevation gain. After 2 easy miles we bypassed the Chesnut Trail and went to the Hemlock Trail. The Hemlock Trail is one of the most fun trails in southeast Ohio. This is a challenging but extremely fun loop on very well maintained trails. Try it!

Great trail deserving of a moderate label. We did it, but it’s actually 8.8 miles completed in exactly four hours, no breaks. Extremely challenging inclines, but great hike. Not for the weak of heart!

Really nice trails. Only down side was a lot of trails we explored were really more dirt roads than traditional trails. Other than that a really great time!

Easy hike, pretty but not a lot of interesting scenery. Not too many people and lots of trail maps at intersections.

The cemetery ridge / hemlock trail loop is stunning! It’s also a good challenge with its steep inclines.

One of my favorite hikes so far!

Most challenging hike in the central Ohio area for us so far. We started on the Cemetery Ridge trail, did most of the Fern Loop Trail until it got to the Hemlock trail head then we took the Hemlock Trail to the Creekside and back to the parking lot. Totaled about 8 miles. Cemetery Ridge is steep for the first .75 mile or so then is kind of boring as you are hiking on an access road. We loved the Fern and Hemlock trails. We didn’t see anyone on these trails. They are extremely rugged throughout and there are a number of spots where there is a drastic elevation change. But in spots, it felt like we could be on the west coast in the forest somewhere. Completely feel like you have been transported out of central OH. Highly recommend, just be prepared to do some steep uphill hiking.

Did the Hemlock Trail to the Fern Trail then back down the Hemlock Trail (about 4.5 miles). A great workout with great elevation gains, especially for the area. Will do again, but will add the Chestnut Trail out and back for a 8 mile, fairly hard hike.

Well, it started out nicely enough through a pretty forested area with quite a bit of elevation change to keep things interesting along the Hemlock Trail and Fern Trails. Once we hit the Cemetery Ridge Trail, things got less interesting, the trail became more like an access road, and it stayed that way until we began our descent back to the parking area. This would be a 3.5-4 Star hike if you removed that portion f the cemetery ridge trail.

The trail is in good shape for as much rain we have had. A decent about of steep up’s and down’s to get on and off the main trail.
