Caldwell Nature Preserve Trail is a 0.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Cincinnati, Ohio that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Note: There are reports of trail closures in the area. Check with Caldwell Preserve before proceeding. A little known gem of a trail. Trails wind along ridges formed by Mill Creek Watershed. Good elevation change as you pass over bridges through gorges. Forest is full of mature beech, walnut, and oak trees. This preserve is a glimpse at what the Mill Creek valley might have been before industrialization.

Beautiful views from the ridge tops. Be sure to take the “Paw Paw Trail” to get to the B loop on the north of the park. It’s not shown on the All Trails map, but well worth it.
Ignored the AllTrails route as it didn’t make a lot of sense. Happy to see the many dog owners we passed all had their dogs on leash. My dog and I liked the portion along the creek the best.
This is a really pretty area and a nice refuge right in the city. The trails are well maintained but the signage could be better. There doesn’t seem to be a good map at the onset so take a look at the map here before you set out. It’s a small enough area that you don’t really risk getting lost but there are multiple routes you can take.
Easy & enjoyable hike. Even with the trail covered in leaves, I found it easy to navigate. Most exciting part of the hike was almost stepping on a dangernoodle!
Very enjoyable network of trails meandering through an small urban woodland. Not well marked but who cares when using gps. we made a point of doing this park in its entirety including a side jog to view the Mill Creek. Beautiful oasis in an otherwise industrial area of Cincinnati. Even the noise from passing freight trains added to the experience.
