this is definitely a hike. I would describe it as moderate in difficulty. there are some areas that are slightly overgrown but overall the trail is well marked with blue blazes. I am surprised that this is not called Zimmerman Trail as that is what it is named at the trailhead by Morton park or Mentor Marsh Nature Preserve. This is confusing for me because I wasn't sure if I was checking in on the right Trail. I looked up online and this is a roughly to my trail but you have to double back so it does make it about 4 miles total. there are some slight ups and downs and some areas do get muddy depending on the weather. I was able to see some deer bedded down very close to the trail and many birds and wildlife. I did not pass any other hikers and it felt secluded although you are pretty close to housing developments. overall I love this hike I wish that it could have been a loop rather than a double back, bring bug spray and check for ticks when you're done.

The scenery is beautiful but the trail is in complete disrepair. Pricker bushes are overrunning the trail, trees are down and blocking the path, and there are times when the trail disappeared completely. Mud should be expected this time of year but there are places that clearly need planks thrown down as well.

We live down the street from this park and love coming here no matter the weather. We love walking along the trail and seeing Lake Erie, especially at sunset. This park is very clean and quiet.

Excellent in any season. Well maintained primary and side trails. Excellent views of marsh and Lake Erie. Key segment of the Bedford Section of the Buckeye Trail. Many birds to observe. Spectacular sunsets.

I was a little disappointed by this trail. It's gravel until you get to the lake and it's not really a loop. It's an "L"shaped trail that you just have to double back . The only saving grace and this is what makes it 2 stars instead of 1 star for me is that it does track the Lake Erie shore for about a mile. Other than that, I wasn't crazy about it. It's perfectly flat with very little variety.

Beautiful woods along Lake Erie's shore. Wildlife is so used to people that you will have excellent deer, woodpecker and waterfowl photo opportunities... It is one of the few places in N.E. Ohio where you can take your dog to swim in Lake Erie on a beach. Well paved paths are available for biking too (not all trails, though!). The Marsh Rim trail offers a unique overlook of the Mentor Marsh.

Canoeing/Kayaking is offered - rental plastic kayaks available.
