This is a short, easy trail. The waterfall wasn’t very full when we were there. Great hike the families.

Due to Covid the blue hen parking lot is Closed do we took the Buckeye. Props to everyone who Trail Runs this because there are a lot of elevation changes, narrow steps and steep edges. Trail in pretty good condition and easy to follow. Brought a toddler and probably won’t again!!

We drove to Cuyahoga from a few hours away and this was the first trail we attempted after stopping at the visitor center for a map. At first we pulled in to the right side parking lot only to realize after getting back there that there's only enough room for 3 cars. So we then had to turn around in the tiny lot and 2 more cars pulled in the single lane, resulting in some driving Jenga. Then we tried across the road to the bigger, overflow parking lot to find it was also completely full and had to deal with the turning around with multiple cars again. No parking is allowed on the road so we got frustrated and decided to just try a different trail. We did come back a few hours later around 5:30 and there was some room to park. The trail is easy and the waterfall is small but decent, but honestly not worth the busyness and hassle we went through.

Trail is short and downhill. Be careful if you’re gonna try to get close to the falls; it’s slippery in January

Blue Hen Falls was great today! Like most weekdays, the area was nice and peaceful without any crowds. There were just a few cars in the overflow lot and we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were the only ones at the actual falls when we got there. It’s a bit muddy going down to the water area and on the unmarked trail to Buttermilk Falls, but other than that it was fabulous. There’s lots of water flow right now too, which makes it really fun to watch.

Semi-steep hill to go down at the start but has a even area to take a picture of the falls about 20 feet up. To get to the falls you will need to make your way off trail to the bottom. Secret: if you’re skilled enough, you can climb the left side of the rocks behind the falls for an amazing picture!

We continued past Blue Hen Falls to Buttermilk Falls! You have to cross the stream a few times and it was muddy, but worth it. We did have to climb up a steep bank or 2 and over a few logs, but were able to manage even with our lab.
