Not much of a hike, but great views and we came back for sunset.

All I can say is wow. We were there when the sun was low in the sky and some haze from the fires. Absolutely stunning view of the river. Moderate number of people.

HikingGreat!Muddy

Short hike that gives you an awesome view of the river. Very muddy and slippery on rainy days but that’s to be expected. This was probably my favorite short hike in the park.

Stunning river views. Seeing the topography changes from this trail just shows the power of water and time. An easy trail with several great picture spots!

We enjoyed the view at sunset. Only a few other people on the trail. We got to watch bison cross the river.

Bird watchingNo shade

I think this trail is a bit overhyped, but it definitely is pretty with a nice view for minimum effort. The biggest draw (in my opinion) is the great horned owls that nest in the holes in the cliffs every spring.

Very short hike but uphill. Really cool view of the Little Missouri River running through the partially grass covered hills and badlands with small trees here and there. The river was partially dried up and very muddy. I imagine this would be even more impressive in the spring when the river is running more fully and the grass might be greener (it was mostly brown).

HikingGreat!No shade

Most breathtaking view of the Missouri/Little Missouri River I've had the pleasure of experiencing! 180 degree panorama of the river with a wilderness background that goes on as far as you can see. The trail itself is rugged enough that you feel like you're hiking, but short, flat and easy enough that it won't sap any energy for your more demanding hikes of the day

Easy, quick overlook. We did twice—once on drive then came back later to watch sunset—great for viewing.

Absolutely lovely little trail. Short and sweet, hidden gem with panoramic views. Must see sunset spot. Also prairie dogs towns and feral horses on the road in. Saw some beavers swimming the little Missouri below as well. Must see spot even if just passing through
