Could potentially be listed as moderate, in the heat. Has a big of a Grand Canyon vibe to get back up and out. Beautiful views, and a bit of peace away from the crowds at the overlook. At one point the trail goes over a bridge and turns to continue the loop; there is another trail that leads off it and goes out a ways. We walked out and back on part of that to enjoy more scenery and make it longer.

Short trail with nice scenery. Not the most stunning views in the area, but definitely better than what you'd find at the local neighborhood park.

Great trail! Short, but felt moderately difficult for mid summer heat. Beautiful rock formations and nice little shady nooks lined by trees. Saw a jackrabbit. Please wear a mask when passing people on the trail and in the visitor’s center/bathroom so everyone can continue enjoying the outdoors in good health!! The tiny bathroom was full of people not wearing masks, scary.

Lovely trail!! Was a bit of a jaunt up and down many steps in the warmer weather. Views are great though!

If you’re making a quick stop into TRNP and need to spend a little energy to break up your trip this is the hike for you. The elevation drop and subsequent gain may be tough for those with problematic joints so gauge your level of discomfort before getting started. The views at the overlook within the trail are far superior to that of the visitor center.

A little underwhelming. The dirt caked up into mud, can get slick. Nice to stretch you legs

Nice trail of short on time. Lots of variety in a short distance. However it’s a bit narrow in some parts, the steps are larger than normal and it was a bit muddy. None of which are a big deal, just not a wow of a hike. View from the visitor center is just as good.

Nice little trail to stretch your legs. Trail is right at the visitors center off of Interstate 94. Beautiful views of the TRNP badlands and hoodoos. Say a giant snake shading itself under a bridge.

Fun trail to do if you’re here. Trail gets a little narrow at times, so if it’s slightly cool out I would recommend paints! Great views and gets you down next to the formations instead of admiring from a far.

A nice little trail not far from our lodging, in Medora. Loved the terrain and scenery ... kinda like mini Badlands

A nice hike a short distance from the Painted Canyon Visitors Center (starts near the picnic tables to the west). Some verticality and some tricky footing spots but nothing difficult.

Beautiful quick hike. We saw a Bison in the distance! Wish we had brought our binoculars. There’s a trail marker down about halfway so we missed a turn and kind of cut our own path through what looked like another trail. There are some pretty well traveled alternative paths on the trail too if you’re feeling extra adventurous.

Easy hike. Watch out for rattle snakes. Would advise boots due to overgrown bush.

Great hike to see the scenery in the park! The first half is downhill and parts are a little overgrown with plants, but well worth the experience to see everything from the canyon perspective. Did this with kids- who had a blast hiking and looking for animals!
