Beautiful vistas and rare to see another person farther south. The section between Sully Creek trailhead and Plumey Draw is well traveled and the trail condition shows it. This section has the most spectacular views, but the worst walking of the entire trail. Well traveled by bikers and horses, much of it is worn into a narrow half-pipe with no place to walk alongside. If your going NOBO from Plumey Draw TH, it will seem to be an endless climb with short (switchbacks) downhill sections giving respite. I suggest carrying more water than usual. If you plan to filter, there was 1 stream flowing (T-storm the day prior), that was VERY muddy with bentonite clay.
Overall, this trail is blessed by endless vistas the entire length with good to excellent hiking conditions until the final 10 miles of the north section. Be aware that the steepest sections have the most clay; after a t-storm they can become quite treacherous and unforgiving of a slip.
NOTE: my phone batteries were nearly depleted and I shut down the track at mile 35. Total trip time was 34.5 hrs according to my SPOT tracking.
