Very peaceful and scenic short walk to the ranch site. Nice bottomland scenery. Good views of Little Missouri River if you go slightly off trail.
The final leg of the drive down Belle Lake road had mesmerizing sights -- sprawling plains with mini-buttes popping out of the ground everywhere. The trail itself is nothing special compared to the rest of the park. There are some info panels with insightful Roosevelt quotes and background info, and that's about it.
Awesome out and back. Beautiful scenery, I can definitely see why TR wanted to put his ranch house here. super easy for any skill level.
