Great! Mostly paved so very easy. Unfortunately super cloudy the day we went so no views but I imagine it’s usually gorgeous. Option to take a side trail to go see the plane crash - it’s more steep and muddy to get there and a bit of a distance, but worth it and I did it in my tevas.

Great trail. Paved at the very beginning and they well worn in the rest of the up. It is steep but worth it even fogged in.

HikingGreat!

Paved from the parking lot to the first overlook and a well maintained trial up to the real top. Which was so nice and breezy. Even on a foggy day we enjoyed it. To get to the plane, follow the yellow/pink markers 0.8 miles down and roughly to the left. Very slick and muddy, so if you want to do that part wear the right shoes.

HikingGreat!

Beautiful, short (0.5 mile up), and somewhat steep hike. Doesn't take long, nice path, accessible, and a few resting places/benches along the way, if needed.

Thought this was going to be disappointing at the first overlook but the views at the top were great.

Gorgeous view. Did this trail a few years ago and came back to do it again. Know that if you go to find the airplane, it’s a good 20-25 mins off the trail. Sections are very slick and when we went, there were sections of mud so deep that we couldn’t have done it without hiking boots. Don’t get too overwhelmed with all the little side trails on the way to the plane; I think they all split off and come back together. We kept worrying we were taking the wrong paths. Overall very worth it with the right gear!

Easy trail to a fantastic lookout. For a harder challenge hike to the nearby plane crash!

This was a tough 18% grade climb and there were a lot of people at the top and along the path. Recommend going early to beat the crowds, otherwise you might not be able to get that perfect picture. When you reach the fork near the top if you split to the left it’ll take you to the crash site, and split to the right in order to the climb the rest of the way to the top of the knob.

Great hike, but the views at the bottom at the Visitor’s center are much better than the view from the top. Incline the entire way which was great.

One of my favorite little hikes to visit when I want to get out of the city. The views are beautiful, whether you’re going at 8am, or in the afternoon.

Super steep all the way up but worth it for the amazing views! Hiked it with 3 kids and they did fine. A little narrow and slippery at times but easy to navigate.

Well maintained trail to the top - a little slippery at points but easily navigated. We took the side trail to the plane crash site - the recent rains made the going slow with thick mud and slippery roots. Took us almost an hour to reach but we were very cautious with our dog and teenage son leading the way. Took the wrong path once and had to double back but eventually found it. Definitely recommend hiking boots for this side trek.

The drive through the Blue Ridge Parkway is a spectacular scenic drive with mountain vistas from the window. There are many overlook areas near this hike to pull over and enjoy the scenery. The hike was foggy and the mountain view’s were nonexistent but it was still a fun little hike.

Amazing trail! Lots of shade and it’s rocky. The views are absolutely amazing. I got there right at sunrise and the weather was so cool, even on a summer day in June. It can get crowded so go early

This is a great hike for beginners. 1 mile round trip and short. I use it as a training ground and my best time is 29 mins up and back. Outstanding views for little work. It is very steep and people will make that think it is hard but it’s short so it’s perfect.
