This trail should be taken off this site. It is not available to the public, or at least not accessible in any way. Every possible access is covered with no parking signs, and there really isn’t any parking area anyway. But just to make sure, they put no parking signs along the road every 20 feet or so. Big disappointment. A real shame too, because it looks like a nice walk.

There was literally nowhere to park (as mentioned in previous reviews from last year) so I couldn’t actually make it to the trailhead and went elsewhere to run.

Nice easy trail along the Swannanoa River. The trail is very narrow near the beginning and I thought, “oh no! But soon it was an open path. It ran along the river and had some nice views of the river along the way. There were a few informational stands on the trail that were very informative. The trail is owned by Warren Wilson College. Beautiful wild flowers and their smells along the way. The best part is a bamboo forest near the last part of the trail.

I walked the trail and went on to the Dam Pasture trail until I reached Old Farm School Road. I would give the trail itself a 3. The trailhead is overgrown and figuring out where to park is a challenge. There are *a lot* of divergent paths off the trail. That’s not a problem if you can see they are headed to the river and a swimming hole, but it’s a problem if they aren’t. There weren’t any trail markers I could find, so a map is advised (unless you just want to explore the area, which is relatively contained). But the reasons to think this could earn a 4 is because of the cool shade, the beautiful swimming/wading spots and the pasture views. And today I met a lot of really nice people out picnicking, walking their dogs (all were on leashes and I was so thankful-speaking as a dog owner myself), and wading in the Swannanoa River. I really enjoyed the solitude and, then, chatting briefly with others out enjoying the day.

This trail is currently closed due to flooding!!!!!! April 2019

We went today and the trail was closed on both sides of Warren Wilson Rd, with signs that said a long term closure is expected. I went a bit of the ways up the trail, past the closure signs, just to see, and there are lots of tree falls. According to a friend at WWC, parts of the trail were eradicated when they slid into the river during very bad flooding recently. Not sure what their plans are as far as restoring the trail. :-(

Sweet and mellow run along the river. Quite a few downed trees in the path. The obvious parking area is currently closed, and had I need been before, knowing where to park prob would have been confusing.

Nice trail with the dogs. The trail head at Charles Owens park can be tricky to find. The doggos loved splashing around in the river. Low traffic this time of year which was a plus as much of the trial isn’t very wide. Was super sad to see invasive bamboo along most of the trail but otherwise beautiful and easy hike.

Easy trail that follows along the Swannanoa River. About 6 miles round trip. Connects to other trails owned by Warren Wilson College. You'll run into some of the Warren Wilson students chillin' and smokin'.

great 6 mile out and back if you park at the baseball fields. pretty much flat with twists and turns that often funnel into a single track. several swimming holes along the route and connects to several other trails (although some are private). highly recommend for running or taking a dip in the river.

LOVE this trail. Farmland on one side, river on the other. Easy trail, great for kids, lots of opportunity to play in the river.

I went when it had been raining and it does get slippery and muddy in parts after rain but it is very calm and secluded and a nice run
