Toms Creek Falls Trail is a 0.7 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Marion, North Carolina that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Very pleasant walk to the base of Tom Creek Falls, an 80-foot cascade. Several nice areas for campsites along the creek (14-day maximum camping limit per month posted). There is an old waterwheel base off to the right of the trail. Accessibility: This trail has a new crushed gravel surface and is typically at least five feet wide. The estimated average grade is 4% but it has some steep sections with a grade over 15% at the end of the trail. The Falls observation deck at the end of the trail is wheelchair accessible.
Very easy trail. Go hard right once you cross the bridge to get above the falls. Beautiful especially after rain.
Very easy nature walk that is well-maintained. Can you get crowded at times but was empty today.
This was a nice easy hike & the falls were beautiful. Muddy after the rain but nothing too bad.
Beautiful and very easy trail for almost anyone. The falls is approximately 80’. If you like this falls, be sure to drive the short distance from Marion to Old Fort to Catawba Falls. This is the headwaters for the Catawba River.
10 min hike from the car to the falls. Gorgeous waterfall and easy access. Trail is clean and easy to walk. Some uphill but overall easy.
Awesome easy hike. So beautiful Falls were amazing. There was a small cave up to the right of the falls. Leaves were still gorgeous! Not crowded during the week at all.
Nice and easy hike for kids, elderly folks or dogs. I would even say stroller accessible until you reach the falls. If you continue to the very top of the falls, it does get rocky and steep but it is a really short hike from the bottom of the falls to the top. Plenty of access to water along the way for dogs.
Just as described, easy trail even after the rains. So many spots to enjoy the falls, and I highly encourage you to continue on up to the right to the top of the Falls. There were at least 3 additional cascades above, and it was wonderful to see all the twists and turns leading to each drop, and the pools below each one. Great spot. 3 cars here at 10am, full by 11 when I left (on a Friday).
