The GPS map takes you all around the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. About half the trail is paved and there are informative historical signs at different points along the trail. The view of the sound is excellent and you can walk right onto the sand beach and get your feet wet if you want.

The Lost Colony amphitheater is a stop along the trail and we happened to meet one of the actors who gave us insights into the production of the show. White Ibis were wondering the grounds and obviously used to having their pictures taken. The visitors center at the start of the trail has educational movies and exhibits about the first English colonists that were interesting.

Very easy trail behind the visitor center. There are also outlooks to the beach which is quite nice too.
