Short hike from picnic / parking area to top of Table Rock on the eastern edge of the Linville Gorge. Awesome 360 degree views! Table Rock Trail is a 1 mile trail to the summit of a rocky ridge that looks flat from a distance. This trail, along with the trail to Hawksbill Mountain just down the road is one of the few developed, maintained, and signed trails just outside the Linville Gorge wilderness boundary. This short and moderate hike takes you to spectacular views into the Gorge and offers a 360 degree view of the surrounding Pisgah Forest in the Grandfather Mountain Ranger District. Features include the Chimneys, which are a popular rock climbing destination; also Outward Bound offers programs here. You can also view Peregrine Falcons in the area. Rock scrambling is required along the ridge and some areas are exposed cliffs, so use caution, especially with children.

Amazing views! A religious experience and I’m an atheist.

1 mile round trip moderate hike with beautiful sites along the way, from views to flowers, and natural beauty everywhere you turn. What an incredible view from the top too, and the scents of flowers fills the air.

This was a pretty easy trail to get to the top. We were up and back down to the parking lot in an hour, with a few stops to enjoy the view.

This was a beautiful hike and gave us a great view as we are learning our new home. The only down side was the road there was a bit confusing the first time. Stop and ask any locals you see on your way up... they were very helpful. Follow signs to the picnic area

Not very well marked but just keep going up until you reach the top. Long drive in but totally worth it for the beautiful views!

Best views for the minimal effort required to get there. Good exploring opportunities on the “table top.” Only one mile up, fairly steep, but manageable for most folks and pets alike. 360 degree views await at the top. Trailhead parking offers a launch point for a good hike to short-off too. Saw some great camping spots, but haven’t camped here. Also, not a climber, but some good rock faces for climbing/repelling: May have to compete with Outward Bound for a good spot though. Highly traveled, watch for dog poop.

There are many beautiful views of "The Grand Canyon of the East " I once saw it called that in a magazine. Not for the faint of heart trail though. Be careful not to fall off.

Pretty challenging with a 9 month old and a 2 year old, but we made it. Once we got to the top all the aches were so worth it! Pack a lunch and enjoy the views. Probably some of the best views we’re ever visited! Perfect spot to see the beautiful fall colors! Gravel road was pretty rough, not many signs leading up to the parking lot made us question if we got lost. A few forks in the trail with no direction, but we figured we were headed to the top.

Well maintained and marked trail. Beautiful views from summit and all along the hike. Bring a snack and plan to spend some time at the top. Check out the balanced stones on the south summit.

Great hike, well marked and easy to find. There are some parts that deviate from the trail so make sure you have a good map. Also there's a lot of rocky parts so make sure to have good shoes with traction. I saw several families with small children and dogs doing this hike. Relatively short but still challenging! Amazing views at the top

Starts right off with a non-stop uphill that will get your heart rate going quickly, but every step is worth it when you hit the top. One of my very favorite views in NC.

A very solid 5 star rating. A short 30 minute hike and you are at the top with panoramic 360 degree views. The viewing area was large with lots of interesting places to explore. Many beautiful views all along the way. Large parking area with bathroom facilities. Absolutely no drawbacks to this trail, one of my favorites and I have hiked many NC trails.

Amazing lookouts across the entire trail, slightly steep but totally worth it. INCREDIBLE views at the top, along with plenty of lookouts to explore.

Did this today and it was beautiful. Clear skies and a great hike. The trail is very clear but a bit difficult in places. Still such a great hike.

You can't beat the views on the top of Table Rock.
Visited this past weekend, the road to Table Rock was a one lane gravel road which took almost 40 minutes (10.5 miles) to drive and was fairly bumpy. We had to walk to the parking lot (they're closed January - April 1st), which was much harder than the actual hike. The trail is pretty short so if you start from the parking lot so don't expect a long day unless you spend a long time exploring the different parts of the trail you can go to (there are some small deviations you can take to get other views i.e. of the Linville Gorge).

Actually pretty easy. We went before the gates opened so had to hike 2 miles up to the parking lot. Love the view at the top.
