This hike is considered a strenuous hike. It only gets very steep at the end, during the final climb to the summit. The strenuous final climb to the summit of Stone Mountain offers a stunning 360 degree view that you won't soon forget. This hike is an out and back, not a loop. When you reach the summit of Stone Mountain, retrace your steps back to the parking lot. Hiking Directions: From Sky Valley Road parking lot: Take Rocky Ridge Trail to Stone Mountain Trail, left on Stone Mountain Trail, continue on Stone Mountain Trail to summit; follow Stone Mountain Trail back down to Rocky Ridge, and Rocky Ridge back to the parking lot.

I feel this was morr towards moderate than difficult, but by no means easy. It's flat in the beginning and then there is a left and you go uphill for a while. Amazing views, well worth the effort.

This one definitely gets your heart pumping! Approximately the first half mile is an easy walk through the woods, and then it's all uphill from there. The last leg of the trail on the hike to the summit is strenuous, but only for about one tenth of a mile. When you get to the top, take a left to get to the overlook. The only part of this trail that I did not like is the overgrown "clearing" that you briefly walk through. It is so overgrown that it's really difficult to be aware of your surroundings l and to keep an eye out for wildlife.
