Trail was easy to moderate, just up and down. I took my 2 small dogs on the hike (their first hike ever) and they did great. The view was beautiful and comparable to Charlie’s bunion and mount leconte in our opinion. Would do again! Very enjoyable afternoon.

This is one of the best views in the area, it rivals Silers Bald, Wayah Bald, or even Clingmans dome. You look down on two different lakes on a clear day. It would get more traffic and would be more popular if it was easier to access. Several mile drive on the forest service road and a steady climb up keeps the locals away.

great payoff, just as good as Charlie's bunion with not quite as much work be prepared for 30 min single lane gravel road drive to get to the parking lot from the main road

Great trail and in good condition. Stopped off at the shelter (no bear cables) which was clean and in good shape. Couple spots along the trail with good views and the summits itself had incredible views and two USGS Markers. Easy hike.

I see they changed the rating to moderate and rightly so. This was an easier hike than Charlie's Bunion (also rated moderate) and was a gradual uphill that really wasn't difficult at any point. The trail was not crowded and was well maintained. Great views at the top (better than Charlie's Bunion) for much less effort and more solitude. Rained all day yesterday and today was clear and you could see a very good distance.

Pretty good trail, rated at difficult, but it's really not. Hiked Silers bald a few days prior and it put a much harder work out on me. fairly rocky and rooty in the first 1/3-1/2 of the trail but after that fairly smooth sailing. Elevation change is pretty gradual over the entire length so pretty easy on ya. definitely should be rated moderate more so than difficult

HikingGreat!

I saw no-one else on the trail on this Monday afternoon. The weather was overcast and damp, and it did rain for maybe 20-30 minutes. The rain stopped when aI got to the summit and there were nice views of ridges with all sorts of clouds and fog below and in the distance. Pretty cool. This is a nice segment of the AT so the trail is clear and well marked. I'd say it's only a moderate slope, nothing steep at all, so I'd rate the hike as moderate. I think my total time was about 2:30 to 2:45. The 6 mi forest service road is well dried and in very good condition.

We did this trail in October...beautiful trail...it’s an uphill climb all the way in....rocky and roots...but with leaves down there are beautiful views all along the way...and then of course the view from the top is amazing...

Solid hike. Nice views from the summit. Lots of roots and small rocks but overall steady climb with no rock scrambling or tall steps. Some areas very overgrown but not uncomfortable or too buggy. As an experienced day hiker, took me one hr 20 min up and an hour down but didn't rush, particularly at the top. Left Deep Gap at 8:15 - it was a beautiful morning with just a handful of others on the trail. The Deep Gap Road was also fun.
