Speight Branch Greenway follows the Speight Branch Greenway Creek starting at Southeast Cary Parkway and ending at a pedestrian underpass at Tryon Road. After the tunnel users can go in either direction to utilize the Macedonia Lake Loop Trail or to the east to continue along Speight Branch Greenway for 0.7 miles to where it currently ends at Walnut Street. The newly constructed trail encircling Macedonia Lake has a 210-foot section of boardwalk. The lake area is the site of a 24 acre neighborhood park to be developed in the future. Future plans extend Speight Branch to the south of Cary Parkway to connect to Piney Plains Greenway north of Macedonia Lake. The southern end of the greenway begins at Southeast Cary Parkway just east of the intersection with Lochmere Drive. It travels for 0.6 miles to the location of a pedestrian underpass beneath Tryon Road. The previously existing pedestrian tunnel has now been connected with greenway construction and users can access the newly opened Macedonia Lake Loop or continue around to Tryon Manor Drive where there is an eastern fork in the trail that goes for 0.3 miles to Walnut Street.

Starting at either Walnut Street or Cary Parkway, the paved Speight Greenway trail in Cary accesses the Macedonia Lake Loop in the middle - great for a bike ride or walk.
