Great trail! Steady inclines and declines with views along the creek at the beginning and end. It’s perfect for a short (<60 minute) run in the woods.

This circuit is a fairly good workout. Hard times to the junction and then back down shut in which is actually the MST is a nice hike with nice woods on shut in. But if you want an extra workout continue upp the MST to Lance Mt and back.

The trailhead is on the arboretum grounds which charges $14 to park. (We parked on the road a little ways up.) Hard Times is a gravel road A bit of incline but not too steep. The trail back down is nice, through a variety of trees. No stunning vistas per se but some nice views here & there. A pleasant loop overall.
