Getting to this trailhead is half the adventure. We passed six Black Bears foraging in fields next to the road (including a momma and her two cubs) and a River Otter with two pups that scampered off the road after seeing our car. The trailhead is well marked, although it is also a put in for kayakers so parking is limited.

The trail starts out chat covered for a couple hundred yards before turning into a boardwalk. The boardwalk goes through the swamp. A gorgeous Copperhead hunted next to the trail as we passed by ignoring us before it crossed the trail behind us giving us an opportunity to take a picture that is included under the pictures for this trail. About a half hour later on the way back, it was still hunting next to the trail. A snake skeleton from an unknown species was also found on the boardwalk.

Just off the trail, Pileated Woodpeckers and Prothonotary Warblers called frequently. The trail is surrounded by tall pines, cattails and wildflowers and stops at a wooden gate overlooking the swamp. This was a great trail.

We really enjoyed this easy boardwalk trail. It was easy and the the views of the swamp were very nice. There were birds and plenty of turtles to see along the way.
