Super Trail -
Easy on the body, might even recommend it for almost anyone!

The area is quiet, and the cover is thick for the most part, and we stayed cool and comfortable!

You'll love it

Refreshing easy trail with even terrain through a good forest. I backpacked to the camp ground & took Sal's Trail on the way back down which finishes at a lake.

Good for a quick walk or run in the woods

Saw doe and two fawns. Lovely little root-filled trail that is built for a good walk with some minor elevation.

Easy hike with the pup. Even on a hot day the trail was quite busy.

Nice trail for a short hike. Not strenuous but still more interesting than a paved trail. No wildlife sightings but a nice quiet morning hike.

A fun and leisurely hike, even for a New Year's day after a decent rainfall.

My first experience. I was hesitant. Battery running low on GPS map made me turn and head back sooner than I wanted to. I'll return. Very soon!

The map for this trail shows the Sal's Branch trail of the many trail options in Umstead. Good for mountain biking, hiking, and even horses, Umstead has a lot to offer in Raleigh and Cary. Elevation change, woods, streams, lakes, wildlife, and more. For hiking, Sal's Branch, Sycamore and Company Mill are the best, for mountain biking, Cedar Ridge and North Turkey trails will offer the most challenge and Graylyn has an awesome downhill. Definitely worth checking out.

It was good for family hike. About 3/4 way around there's a damn, lake & boathouse that rents canoes & paddle boats. We ate our lunch along the stream & kids played on the rocks. Downside is you can hear RDU airport the whole time. It can be like you are hiking on the runway. Excellent trail for runners.

Easy. Not a loop so backtrack at end. Nice creek. Will be much prettier when the leaves return.
