As of February 2019, users have reported that the road leading to the trailhead is closed, adding 4 miles round trip to the hike. If you have dogs, please keep them on a leash and the two stream crossings will give them a chance to hydrate during the trek. Come in late May- July (at this elevation) to enjoy the multitude of blooming Rhododendrons, Flame Azeleas and Mountain Laruel. The entire right hand side of the falls are lined with Rhododendron. The trail is Blue Blazed and is well maintained. The falls are beautiful and the sounds of cascading water by the creek are both relaxing and rejuvenating to sit and listen to. This is a loop trail but you can simply hike to the falls and return the same way you came if you like. Either way leads back to the small parking area where you started. Make a day out of it and see the nearby "Wayah Bald Lookout Tower."

Perfect hike with our small terrier! Beautiful waterfall and very easy for us (moderate-challenging for the pup). Hard to find and you have to take a precarious dirt road, but it was Worth it

Easy hike with a nice waterfall at the end. The waterfall is a great place for a picnic with friends and family. Usually has ample parking at the trail head.

Hiked this Mon May 13, 2019. Forest service road is open. Trail is clear. Maintenance (fallen trees cut/cleared from trail, rocks appropriately placed for trickle stream crossings) was done that morning. Beautiful hike!

Great trail but be ready for some climbing over falling trees and brush in trails!!

Beautiful waterfall! Some fallen trees on the trail, and muddy/slippery in some areas. The length is perfect for more inexperienced hikers (like myself).

2nd time we tried to reach this waterfall. A few months ago, we went, but walked in which was less than 3 miles, but the trail was not in great shape so we decided to come back another time. Today we went, but we had a 9 year old and 12 week old dogs with us. There were a few trees and feared the pup would panic crawling under it and the older dog would get confused, which he did. Still nice views and a pleasant day.

Nice trail with an awesome waterfall that you can walk right up to. We went when the drive was closed off which added about 4 miles total to the hike. Was definitely still worth it having to walk extra and may have even been better with the extra miles to hike.

We parked just off Wayah Road as the locked gate was up. So the hike was 2 miles up the packed gravel road, then 0.7 up to the falls. The falls were beautiful and there was some icing. Weather was beautiful. Overall 5.4 mile hike and took us about 3 hours pleasant pace. Our border collie could have gone quicker. Highly recommend especially hiking from the bottom.

Great hike and great waterfall. My husband and I went in December with 40* weather, we wore proper attire and the hike was doable. It also provided a quick work out and moderate 1 mile loop. Trail is clearly marked. The waterfall was beautiful and some aspects were frozen, which was neat to see.

Nice short hike, beautiful scenery!

Nice short hike. Not too strenuous. There are a few places where you either need to rock hop or get your feet soaked. The falls are gorgeous! I went yesterday and there was very little fall color. But it was still beautiful and tranquil. My only complaint is that the trail is too short!

nice hike to very tall waterfall

Perfect trail for a leisurely hike. Absolutely beautiful, with only a couple other hikers, it felt like we were secluded into a deep forest. A bit too early for fall colors, but did find some red, orange and yellow leaves dotting the path. Will definitely recommend.

The trail to the left looked washed out so instead of the loop we went right and back the same way (see recording)

Great little hike!

Great short trail with waterfall. The road without a name off Wayah rd. is Forest Service Rd. 388. There is a sign on this road @ 2 miles in for the trail.

This looped trail is really fun with great waterfall views. The road leading to it is 2 miles long of one lane section and can be a little dangerous, but we made it up and back just fine. If two cars need to pass in opposite directions, be cautious. Key is....be smart and drive up it slow.

these directions are wrong. loafers glory is on SR 1442, not 1448.

Awesome hike! Completed June 2018. We had an age range from 4 to 75 and everyone managed just fine. The littles ran ahead the entire time and the elders took their time and used walking sticks. Steady incline, single file. Georgeous forest, many fun stream crossings, two waterfalls. Love that it's a loop. Follow blue trail markers. Hike is marked with a sign as you're driving on Forest 388. Enjoy!

Beautiful short hike ending at the waterfall! So many ferns and got to see a bunch of salamanders at the base of the falls. We wish we would have brought our lunch out there to eat and spend more time by the waterfall.

We absolutely loved it. beautiful waterfall. We brought my wife's 65 year old father and he handled it well. a few steep parts but overall very easy for the young and fit. well worth it!
