Easy and beautiful hike! Because of that combo, there were crowds of people but we were still able to enjoy the views and take some pictures. Would like to hike on to Jane Bald next time!

Heavily trafficked on Labor Day weekend, this was still am enjoyable, quick hike to the top. A few campers were up there. We would go back again and then continue on to Jane Knob

4 adults, 6 kids, 1 infant. Great short hike with a small dense forest and breathtaking views. We all really enjoyed it.

A very short trail straight to the top of round bald. Very easy for children! Has a magnificent view once you summit. Bathrooms Are also easily accessible.

Easy hike and beautiful views. March 12 snow on the ground and met an AT trail through hiker that started February 20th and had a rough 4 weeks so far.

Very easy, short from the parking lot. Great views! We took a picnic and ate lunch at the top. Lots of foot traffic for a Thursday in October.

It is not hyperbole to say that this is one of my favorite spots anywhere. It also is the place that inspired me to become a serious hiker. It's visually stunning no matter when you visit (except for that one time in the cold fog, rain and wind...but it was still exciting to be there). I have been to Roan Mountain five times in the last couple years. I included a few photos from each hike to show the changing scenery. No matter what the main goal is for each trip, I make sure to include the short hike up to Round Bald. At just over a mile and a half round trip and 300 feet of elevation gain, this has to be one of the greatest small effort/high reward hikes. Often the most difficult part is trying to find a place to park in Carvers Gap. It is usually a good idea to get an early start. Besides, there are few better places to see a sunrise. And then you can keep hiking for as long as you want!
