They have put down huge rough gravel on this trail so its no longer enjoyable. I went about 6 Miles and had big stone bruises on my feet through hiking shoes. Its not natural like it used to be. I've hiked very rocky trails but this one kills your feet now.

Good hike but I am not a big fan of out and back dayhikes. One of the best strenuous hikes around Charlotte and you need to go into the mountains for better hikes of this length.

Just did this trail in mid July and the amount of yellow jackets was surprising. I couldn't walk 5 feet without seeing 2 or 3 of them. The trail is very nice, but if you're allergic to wasps and yellow jackets like myself you might want to enjoy it in the colder months.

Nice fairly easy trail. The last half mile is a fairly steep ascent and will wear you out. Some nice views at the tops.
