Some mud but not too bad. We got slightly off the trail and it ended up being 4.2 miles

50-50 trail of hiking and road. A little swampy in some sections.

Too much of the trail is road. Loblolly is good but very muddy day after rain.

The trail was enjoyable. It is not one of Umstead's better maintained trails and we had an adventure crossing one creek. Would hike this trail again.

Beautiful day on the trail! Fair amount of people. Parking was 1 in 1 out when we arrived at 11.

I loved the wooded section! It was so peaceful. It's not a stroller trail but if you can navigate some tree roots & up & down terrain, you'll enjoy it. One over the water part where you step across on big rocks. The second section that was gravel was fine, but it did get you back to the start instead of turning around.

We definitely enjoyed the hike. From start to finish it was 4 miles. We would recommend taking Reedy Creek first and finishing on Loblolly, but it’s beautiful either way.

Don’t be put off by the first part- which is a road! There is some fun elevation changing rooty in-the-woods trail later.

The first part of this trail is nice and woodsy. There are quite a few roots, not stroller friendly. It does turn into a gravel road for a bit, then you turn onto Reedy Creek and you see the little reservoir. Its a nice stop to sit for a little while. Then it's an uphill walk on a gravel road until you hit a paved road. Finally you meet back up with the woodsy part of the trail that brings you out the same way you came in. I would advise examining the map before you go, because you do get off the Loblolly trail when you get on the gravel road to make it a loop. There isn't any real signs indicating a "loop". It is a nice little hike/walk!!
