Pamlico Sound Paddle Route is a 7.8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Buxton, North Carolina that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for nature trips, bird watching, and fishing and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
July 10, 2019This is a paddle not a hiking trail. Entrance is a canal on private property! Very disappointed.
March 5, 2017Great stretch along Hwy 12. We’ve been to the original placement of the Hatteras Light as well as to the new location – quite an engineering feat to move it. We make this part of the Hwy 12 Lighthouse run – great day trip for families. Lots to do, kayak, swim, surf, fly kites, fish, hike, stroll, birdwatch, build sandcastles… If you are on the Outer Banks, I highly recommend this trip and visiting Cape Hatteras National Seashore!
