Beautiful views. Especially pretty with all of the fall leaves! Don’t be tripped up by the trailhead - you have to hop over the fence.

Overall, a pretty nice out and back. The first half mile is the nicest - right along the stream with some beautiful scenery. After that the road noise becomes more apparent. It’s not overwhelming but you notice it when a car drives by on the Parkway. You do need to cross a stream but it was passable with my hiking boots. Not a hike for great views, but pleasant, especially along the water.

Beautiful scenery and relaxing creek atmosphere. Close to the road so you can hear cars passing by on a lot of the trail, but other than that is a pleasant hike. Not too strenuous, but to get to the end of the highlighted trail you have to cross the water so plan on getting your feet wet if you want to do the whole 3.1 miles

Great little hike. Very beautiful and green! A bit damp and slick especially the wood bridges. Climb is steady but rock and roots make footing a bit technical. Very doable during the week or after a rough day when you need to get away!!! Enjoy!

HikingGreat!

Beautiful trail, couldn’t finish the last bit because the creek was high and we didn’t want to get ourselves and our dog wet. Still definitely worth the trip! Super close to campus, the river was beautiful, and not many ups and downs. Also when we were going back to the cars there were cows in the path but it was amazing! A mama and two babies:) not threatening at all

Great trail. Looks like they diverted the river since early summer

The trail was a little hard to find (you have to climb over part of a fence, cross through a field, and then over another fence), but it felt a bit magical. Granted, we went right after a rain, so the creek was GORGEOUS. We didn’t go the whole way, as we had a toddler on our backs and she was getting fussy, but we will definitely be back.

Would be lovely without the noise from parkway. Could hardly hear the river. Traffic really ruined the whole hike.

OK trail, especially first half or so along streams. Rest is just a nice walk in the woods.

Good trail. Nice canopy trail that will keep you cool. Some pretty creek views in the beginning, but no great overlooks. There’s also some significant car noise from the parkway. Would recommend for a leisure hike.

This was a good family friendly trail. Light traffic for a Sunday afternoon. We maybe saw 8 other groups the entire time. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good walk through the woods with moderate elevation gain. As others have said it’s noisy from going next to the parkway but that wasn’t a negative for us. I’m 6’2” and 300 lbs and in moderately good shape and didn’t have an issue with this trail.

Nice enough for a quick hike. Lot’s of car noise this time of year. Attractive creek with a few good places to enjoy it.

Nice trail! The first half there were more roots and rocks to climb over as well as a couple of creek crossings so slightly more challenging. The second half was a pretty easy trail. We thought there was a river at the end and there was a dry creek so we weren’t sure that the trail had ended. We had our dogs with us and they loved swimming in the creek, with the best swimming area near the start/end of the trail. Enjoyed it!

Great for rock hopping in the creek too. There is parkway traffic to hear throughout but still fun trail.

Beautiful, secluded, uncrowded trail but as it parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway most of the way, don't expect total peace and quiet.

Rocky

the first half of Trail is very Rocky and is not easy. The part that follows the water is very scenic . A new bridge has been built across the creek. After crossing the creek the trail becomes much easier.
