Getting There

This is an easy and very kid friendly trail. The main feature here is Moore Cove Falls which is about 50ft high and pours over a rock overhang. A couple of sections tend to be muddy but it's easy to bypass the mud. This is a must see for families.

Paved pull off

From I-26 take NC hwy 64 E about 19 miles into Pisgah Forest. This will be the intersection of HWYs 64,280, and 276. HWY 276 is straight ahead at this intersection follow it a little over 6 miles to a paved pull off on the right. The parking is just before a bridge crossing the river that Looking Glass Falls is on and the trail head is marked by a large sign. The trail starts by crossing the river on a wooden bridge.

Perfect temperature in the woods with full sun. Fair amount of traffic but not too bad, parking at the trail head. Beautiful waterfall at the end, wish we’d brought a little picnic to hang out there for a bit longer. Good for all ages!

A short but real hike that everyone can enjoy. Our 5 and 9 year olds thought it was a lot of fun and we barely heard any complaining.

Fantastic hike to a stunning plunge falls. We were able to get behind the falls. Coming back with our three boys (youngest 2 years) only two days later! 10/10!!

HikingGreat!Muddy

Easy trail for kids with great reward at the end. Walk by and over streams and end at a tall waterfall with a small wading pool. Easily climb behind the waterfall into a “fairy cave” and feel the mist! Fairly crowded on a Wednesday, early afternoon.

Lovely. Wear your sandals if it’s warm. Plenty of opportunities for creek stomping. Fairly crowded.

This is a great trail with several stream crossings on the way to the falls, plenty of places to stop and play in the water. Suitable for dogs and kids. We took a wrong turn and got here later in the morning on a Thursday than intended and the falls were quite crowded — it was challenging to social distance and some didn’t respect that we were trying to distance. So go early or late if you don’t want crowds.

Great easy hike. Very well maintained. Wide enough for people walking in both directions. some small bridges to cross My 3 kids loved the hike and the falls. Was a very easy hike for our dog. She loved the streams we passed. There are not very many parking spots. We had to park down the rode just a bit. The falls were great. The kids loved getting wet.

Stunning falls...nice wide, well-maintained trail. We started at 8:30 am Sunday and there were hardly any others. But I bet it was super-crowded later.

Very easy hike! Anyone could do it. The hike there was short. The waterfall was cool. You can walk behind it but be careful it’s slippery! Was not too crowded!
