Getting There

This is an easy and very kid friendly trail. The main feature here is Moore Cove Falls which is about 50ft high and pours over a rock overhang. A couple of sections tend to be muddy but it's easy to bypass the mud. This is a must see for families.

Paved pull off

From I-26 take NC hwy 64 E about 19 miles into Pisgah Forest. This will be the intersection of HWYs 64,280, and 276. HWY 276 is straight ahead at this intersection follow it a little over 6 miles to a paved pull off on the right. The parking is just before a bridge crossing the river that Looking Glass Falls is on and the trail head is marked by a large sign. The trail starts by crossing the river on a wooden bridge.

Great short trail .62 miles to falls, smooth natural surface easy on the feet, mostly about 5ft wide, great for kids.

Nice waterfall but there are way better ones in the area. If you want a fairly short hike to an ok waterfall, this is good.

Nice crushed rock trail. Some spots with mud and roots but mostly nice. Hardest part was the stairs at beginning.

HikingGreat!

A moderate and short hike from highway 276 to the falls. It’s a thin shower of all fall on this day. We walked behind the falls under the jutting rock cliffs and watched the sun shine through. The area around the falls is muddy and slippery.

Nice trail, only gave 4 stars because it was so crowded - and we went on a weekday during work/school hours. Mostly uphill on the way to the falls, the trail is very easy to follow and clear of fallen trees. The end of the trail has an overlook to view the waterfall, though you can easily climb down to the falls and the rock wall behind it. It was a pretty trail with pretty falls at the end. Good for kids/dogs.

Very pretty easy hike especially with the leaves changing. My 3 year old was able to complete the whole out and back. a little muddy in spots but overall solid trail. The payoff is grand; there's a waterfall that you can walk behind.

Easy well maintained trail. Starts with a number a steps right at the beginning. The falls are a fun place to play around and is very accessible

Nice trail and lovely waterfall but I went on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty busy. I imagine weekends there are packed. I would recommend wearing hiking boots bc it is muddy in several sections. Nice overall and close to several other trails in Pisgah.

HikingGreat!

We went at 9.30am and it was pretty busy, it got a lot busier after we left but there is generally enough parking, you might have to park a little further down the road and walk back, which a lot of people did. Very easy hike, we saw lots of kids and dogs, and a rewarding ending with a beautiful waterfall! it’s a slightly steep hike, but since it’s so short it’s very doable!

Got there around 1:00 so there were tons of people. The trail was clear most of the walk and the falls were magnificent. Lots of dogs but all were leashed. Highly recommend this for a family (even with smaller children).
