Great little trail with a great view. You have the option to either drive to the bridge or take the trail (0.4 mil) up. This trail is in the grandfather state park so make sure you purchase a ticket online before attempting to commute there. Pretty crowded as well, so try to go during non-peak times. Dogs welcomed.

HikingGreat!

Due to Covid restrictions and procedures on the trail you can’t stop on the bridge itself when it’s crowded. However, the views from across the bridge are much better anyway. It can be a bit precarious if you aren’t experienced being on rocks way up at the top of a mountain, but the views are only topped by the other trails grandfather has to offer. A great starter to a day of hiking.

Easy hike that is perfect for the kids with cool rocks and great views. Bridge was not too scary for my family members that are afraid of heights. The animal viewing area is really cool. Up close experiences with bears, otters and eagles. My family loved this half day experience.

You can drive to the base. There is a parking lot. So easy hike. It can be a bit scary but overall fun

First, anyone complaining about the fee- there is a lot to do in Grandfather Mountain and it costs $$ to maintain. This is one of my absolute favorite places. Do this hike to the swing bridge, don't drive to the top. It's not a hard hike at all. There are plenty of other trails at the top. This is a total gem

Short trail but it was nice to have a little hike before the bridge. I recommend definitely parking at the black top parking lot and hiking the short trek to the bridge and top shop. The bridge was pretty cool and the views from above were pretty breathtaking!

Beautiful view! If you park at the lower lot and hike up you get a unique experience compared to just parking at the top.

So worth the 20 min. Very pretty, not too steep and ok for kids. Feels like elves are going to appear at every corner. Lovely!

It’s just a super short hike from one parking lot to another parking lot. However, you do get to go under the suspension bridge.

Stunning views but be careful not to slip and fall as you are up very high with little support. Make sure to hold your small children or dogs tight.

Open with a reservation. The 0.4 mile up from the Black Rock parking lot was step stone rocks on switchbacks. My 3 year old made it with some hand holding along the way. Fun, but busy despite the need for reservations.

$22.00 for adults and $9.00 for children is ridiculous. Pulled a u turn.

I hike for the beauty not to pad people's pockets. $22.00 per person is ridiculous, I turned around and went elsewhere.

Crowded, but enjoyable venture. Hike the area around to get a bang for your buck. Minus one star - I haven’t been in many years and don’t recall paying so much to get on the mountain. Yikes.

It was very crowded when we came here. Also it's expensive to get into grandfather mountain for our whole car load it was 65 dollars. Overall though the views are outstanding! Especially at the top with the bridge!

Great views from the top of the mountain. It costs $22.00 per person to drive into Grandfather Mountain even if you are only hacking the bridge. It was such a short hike I didn’t even turn on my AllTrails app.
