Small crowd to watch the sunset and camp. By morning most campers left except for 1 other set of campers. Very windy even though we weren't camping at the summit. Gorgeous sunset and even more spectacular sunrise!

Beautiful and breathtaking! The road wasn’t bad but it is bumpy. Parking at trailhead can be tricky depending on the time of day, conditions and how many people take it in that day. Of course we did the difficult climb, but made it with no issues. Beautiful sunny day, blustery winds made it much cooler at the top then in parking lot. Well worth the view and experience. It had been seven years since I had been last and my GF first time. Our return was the shorter trail which brings you back to the parking lot. Would love to do it again in summer, bring the pups! No restrooms at the trailhead.

Beautiful and breathtaking! I was worried about the drive up since there had been recent snow, but the road wasn’t as bad as I had imagined. We were in a minivan and it was bumpy, but we did fine. Plenty of parking at trailhead. We Took the shorter trail to the left as I had read was recommended for novices. It was very deep with mud and icy in several spots. Would recommend good hiking boots with tread. One of my daughters friends wore tennis shoes and she was sinking in mud a couple of times. We left our hiking sticks in the car thinking we wouldn’t need them- I would recommend having some type of hiking stick/ trekking pole. It would have been an easy walk up if not for the mud. Either way, it was TOTALLY worth it!! There were only a few other people there and we found a nice spot to have a picnic and rest in the sun while taking in the view. It was gorgeous and sunny. Would love to do it again in summer! Worth noting- no restrooms at this trail.

Got there and was lucky enough to get a parking spot. There was snow on the ground and the trail was muddy in spots. Not a lot of people here the week before Christmas. Only one group staying in a tent and a few couples. Beautiful views and decently easy hike.

OHV/Off-road drivingGreat!

We arrived by 4:00 for sunset and snagged the last parking spot in the small lot. An easy walk up to the summit, 360 views all around. We had a beautiful sunset! Saw two weddings and a marriage proposal. Such a magical spot!

Always a favorite, However the tent city has taken ove.... My best guess was nearly 100 tents there this evening..I guess it's great that the younger generation are enjoying it but there isnt much chance of an uninterrupted view. Parking continues to be a huge issue right now pack your patience you'll need it!

Best view I’ve ever seen. It’s more of a trail than a hike but worth it. Definitely coming back to camp next time!

Nice hike after a long gravel road drive up. Didn't encounter too many people. The view is as advertised. Wonderful. Some trash left on top - maybe by inconsiderate AT thruhikers.... Don't know. But we picked it up and packed it out.

I LOVE MAX PATCH. My house is 30 minutes away and I kid you not I’ve hiked it at least 25 times. It never gets old and is one of the most magical places in the world to watch the sunset. The ONLY thing is, it has gotten more popular in recent years with more attention from rangers and better trail conditions and better road conditions. As long as your okay with people it’s a great hike and you can meet people from several different states.

Beautiful very unique area. If you want panoramic vistas and mind blowing sunrises, max patch is the place to be. The hike is super short and well maintained. I give the hike and view a 5 but recently it is way overcrowded due to a spike in popularity so try to go at off peak times.

We (kids and grand-kids) drove up to the area in the afternoon to (hopefully ) view the sunset. About 3/4 of the way up to the trail the trees and ground were covered in snow. The top of the mountain was cloudy and visibility was very limited (no view). Being from the deep south we really enjoyed the couple of inches of snow on the ground. The loop (in snow) was very beautiful. We will return in a warmer month to hike the area, without little ones. :)

Extremely crowded but very beautiful views. It's changed alot in the past few years. I'm a little worried about the lack of restrooms for so many people. I saw lots of tents. They almost take away from the scenery. I also saw about 6 people pissing off the trail and bags of dog poop left for someone to pick up. Sad. This is one that needs to be monitored. I won't be back. There are alot of other less crowded hikes way more stunning
