This hike didn't seem as short as others say. It seemed longer than the stated 1.1 miles. I did cross the parkway and hike to the overlook, which was worth it. Most of the way there is uphill, but switchbacks make it easier. There were nice views since the trees only have a few leaves still. Lots of roots and rocks. Didn't pass too many others along the way, which was nice. My two dogs loved it.

It was a quick fun hike but if I wanted I could easily extend the hike by jumping on the blue ridge

Great, short uphill hike to do with the dog! Light traffic so it’s the perfect amount of seclusion. Haven’t crossed the BRP to see a view as others have suggested but will do next time!

Cross Hwy at top take a left of the trail and there is a nice overlook on the left. Look for a tree with red and white dot.

Well maintained, moderately challenging trail, perfect length! Parking is basically nonexistent right now, but they are working on that. Have to cross BRP to get any kind of view at the top. Nice though!

HikingGreat!

I Love this trail! A great 40 min or less hike - I love to do this one when I don’t have time for a longer hike with my dog. Usually only pass 3-4 other folks. It’s all uphill out, but the trail zig zags which makes it less intimidating.

All uphill going out and downhill on the way back. A bit muddy. Passed a few other hikers on the way but not too heavily trafficked.

Four old ladies out for a walk. Took our time going up looking out for bears (a lady who lives nearby told us they were out wandering in the area today). Saw a couple squirrels playing. Lots of rhododendrons and some mountain laurel so I’m sure it’s really pretty in the spring. At the parkway we went left up to the overlook at mile marker 380. Walk on the inside of the guardrail was pretty rough and overgrown. Lots of leaves down so if it had rained recently it would probably slick. Overall a fun day.

Easy trail that takes you from a neighborhood in Haw Creek (East Asheville) to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s pretty and has gentle switchbacks good for any novice hiker.

Good hike, connects to blue ridge parkway. Great overlook is about half mile past trail, you will have to cross a road to connect.

Very short, took me 11 minutes to get up. I guess the trail is more of a connecting point to the blue ridge. Some cool mushrooms and plants though!

Great little hike! We really enjoyed this beautiful trail with our 2.5 y/o and 4.5 y/o. Not too challenging but a steady elevation gain and nice switchbacks. Others’ feedback below Re parking and directions was very helpful.

This was a very nice trail, short but scenic. It rises 360 feet in about .6 miles, so it makes for a nice morning hike. The trail has plenty of rocks and roots, so good hiking shoes are recommended. The fall colors are still amazing, even in November.

Beautiful short hike. Very shady and well maintained trail. Turn left when you get to the parkway and walk .3 miles to an overlook of the valley. Turn right at the parkway and across the street .1 miles there is the Mountain to sea trail. I wish I knew how to identify mushrooms. There were so many on this trail. My dog loved this trail

Quick morning hike up to the parkway. I crossed over to the mountain to sea trail for a bit. Sat on the BRP had a coffee with my dog then back down.
