Went to creek on Loblolly Trail, then west along creek to old dam. Rejoined Loblolly Trail back to parking lot. Fun short stroll.

Loblolly is a nicely maintained local trail. If you are seeking a nice stroll, or run through the woods this is a great option. This trail can get very busy on weekends and holidays. The trailhead is located right off the main Reedy Creek parking area. There is a sign that will tell you when you have left the State Park Boundary at the far end of the hike. The back end of this trail features some nice rocky/rooty short climbs. Some of the main features of this hike are the rock creek crossing, Davies Pond, and the reservoir dam at the end.

Well marked, plenty of water features, plenty of big roots and rock so make sure you have good shoes

Great beginner trail, but there was no point that marked where you should turn around to head back; we were almost out of the park by the time we stopped and looked at one of the plaques. Still a great time, and it was super shaded, which made the heat more bearable.

We were disappointed there was minimal water features-especially after recently hiking to waterfalls in Saluda, NC. Dry, hot, long hike...that would be an awesome trail run but not great for us or the dogs for hiking.

Very good trail! Very well marked and challenging enough with different elevations. At the end of the trail if you go a quarter of a mile more you will see a big hill. If you are trying to do some vertical training this is a great help for you at about 40 to 50 feet. I went up and down this hill about 10 times and then hiked the trail back. I did see one copperhead snake today so keep an eye out.

Maybe one of my favorite trails in Umstead park. This trail had it all including very well marked trail, cleared out nicely and good terrain to challenge you a little bit. Highly recommend this out and back trail

Beautiful today as it was cool, did not complete the entire Loblolly Trail but went to the second bike road. One day I’ll reach the end!

Nice trail would definitely recommend! Several bridges and water crossings which is fun for the dogs and plenty of uphill trails that get your heart rate pumping. Different people on the trail as well including joggers, older hikers and little ones with parents. Will hike again soon!

Very busy trail on the south side of Umstead. It's pretty rustic so most of the time you're looking down to avoid stumbling over roots or rocks. I'm amazed how people run this trail with ease. In general, I favor the northern side of Umstead as they provide more solitude and are less rustic.

I love Umstead. this is an easy to get to trail that is too busy on weekends, but pretty quiet on weekdays. You can wander off trail and find lots of cool spots to hang out.

Good trail. Nice woods and paths and streams. Only caution is to know that Loblolly ends before the lake( not as indicated on the all trails map). The trail joins another that takes you further for a total hike of about 12 miles. This latter part is less well marked but worth it. Would definitely do again but plan my return time better if doing the full length as noted on the all trails APP

Needed a short walk; went from parking lot to creek, crossed and followed a short ways then came back. Wide trail, pleasant walking, pretty views along the creek. Enjoyed.

quiet on a beautiful dec. day. I was scared by 9 mile description, but I did the 3 miles to park boundary for a 6.1 hike. The utility trail at 2.2 is good place to turn around if don't want to do rougher and hillier last mile. The trail must go another 2 miles in the Schenck forest.
