I did clockwise so I saved the falls at the end and it was nice. Trail head was hard to find. Keep watching right if you drive from west. There is tiny space for parking on the left.

Tried to go here this morning but access is closed to all of Wilson’s Creek due to COVID-19 - including the trailhead for this trail.

Nice trails. Pretty streams. A few stream crossings, with one being almost deep enough to get over my boots. Poles recommended. Some nice primitive camping spots to file away for later when camping is allowed again. Not a difficult hike, and the weather helped by being cool and clear last Saturday. We also did the Big Lost Cove Cliffs trail after finishing this one. Parking is a challenge, but better than Big Lost Cove Trail.

Great hike. Something for everyone. Three river crossings which are doable but will require some thought. Might have to carry the dog across. Muddy in parts near the water, but dry otherwise. Wear good shoes if hiking near the river due to rocks and roots. Nice views from the outlook of Grandfather Mt.

My pup and I did this one today along with North Harper Creek and North Harper Creek Falls. Great hike and a good workout. A couple of creek crossings but easily manageable. Turned out to be around five miles total with a slight detour to see the falls. Took me a minute after the last North Harper Creek crossing to relocate the trail but was pretty well marked.

This a nice loop but a little hard to follow until you’ve done it once. Then it is easy. Started at East end of 271-A and headed west. The cliff overlook provides a nice perch on rocks from which to enjoy nice views. After about an hour on 271-A it dumps out on Harper Creek Road. Follow this road for about half a mile and turn left on road 58. Follow it to trail 239 which returns to the trailhead.

My dog and I had a great hike today. Started on Little Lost Cove Cliffs trail about halfway in heading clockwise. Beautiful overlook just slightly of the main trail, worth the extra few feet of detour. The pup and I soaked our feet in a pool right near the edge of the waterfall on the North Harper Creek trail. Again, worth the short detour off the main trail. I would rate this trail as moderate-difficult for the section between the falls and the road. The creek crossings do require a good bit of balance, my trekking pole was much appreciated. Great trail, will definitely go back.

First up, the drive in is off-road and on gravel. You will undergo some major switchbacks and curves while driving in the last 20-30 minutes until the trailhead. There’s no formal parking lot, so be prepared to park alongside the bushes. We hiked this loop counter clockwise which we thought was very easy and doable. In doing so, it was mostly downhill trekking with occasional creek crossings. My hiking group thought this trail was easy. No major challenges or fallouts during the hike. However, the waterfall that overlooks the top view has a huge opportunity for fun and potential danger. We slid down the water-covered-incline and found it was enjoyable (at first). Be wary! One of us ended up continuing down and off the edge where she flew off. She survived with minor flesh wounds. It was all fun and games until it happened. Otherwise, the trail was overgrown, not well-marked, simple and easy.

Good trail, but overgrown in a lot of places.

I suggest not taking the little lost cove section of the loop unless you have a way to clear out all of the brush or have long pants.

I would recommend doing this trail counter clockwise if you are looking for a real good workout

We did it clockwise, and this is a really fun hike with a lot of pay-off. There was a “road hazard ahead sign” on the way in that made us a little nervous, but the hazard wasn’t bad at all. The waterfall is not on this loop as shown mapped out in red, but if you cross the creek where it’s flowing over the rock and hike down maybe a third of a mile, it takes you to the base of the waterfall and it’s beautiful. Definitely worth the minor detour. At the end of Harpers Creek trail you end up back on the road for a section before turning right up the Little Lost Cove trail, but don’t worry, the view from the top is totally worth it! Near the top of the little lost cove trail there’s an unmarked fork. The left fork takes you to the overlook, and the right fork takes you back down. The overlook is very nice and not far.

First time on this trail and loved it. Easy to moderate hike with some camping sites. Spectacular over looks to boot.

Moderate trail with nice view. Last part is hiking on the Gravel Rd back to the car. Some good camping spots are available.
