Recent reports of closed portions for trail maintenance are probably true based on our observations but all trails overlooking the falls were open today. We were out and back by noon, when we returned to the (closed) visitor’s center the parking lot was full. Rest rooms are open. A nice hike for folks not accustomed to long or strenuous hikes.

Bummed that only the lower overlook was open for us today! Lots of traffic.

Great trail. Good views of the waterfalls from all 3 overlooks. Gorge is harder to see because of trees

Poplar walking trails I don’t say hiking trails but walking trails in my eyes to see the different falls and angles. Sure can make you huff and puff if you’re out of shape like me though

I agree with the other reviewer‘s before me. This is definitely an easy trail that is really more about seeing the views at the end than the journey itself. Great for families or casual hikers. My son and I hiked this side first only to discover that there are only upper level views on this side. If you want a view from the other side and to see the falls from the bottom of the gorge, take the trail to the left of the visitor’s center.

We enjoyed this trail on a rainy day. It was an easy hike to some really nice views. Despite the rain, the trails were in good shape and easy to navigate. There were lots of hikers of all ages trekking through to see the falls from the various viewpoints.

Great, easy, in and out trail! We began our hike at 9am. Only five other cars were in the parking lot. Spent two hours enjoying the hike and gorgeous views. Stopped for lots of pictures and lunch at the last viewpoint (Erwin’s). A trail that is great for all ages and skill levels! Left around 11am to a full parking lot! Definitely recommend getting an early start if you can!

A great trail! Easy to find and worth the time. My least favorite was Erwins Overlook; as I think the view was better at the Chimney Rock overlook. Happy Hiking!

A lot more people than we expected. Well marked trail but the path from this parking lot to the waterfall isn’t marked on the AllTrails app. Erwin’s View was our favorite viewpoint.

Easy hike and a great view up above the water. Small viewing area holds maybe 10 people. Much steeper, rockier trip to basin is worth it

Easy, short hike. Great views of the river below...if you want an even better experience, head up to the Parkway and do the Plunge Basin trail and go down to the bottom. Linville Falls has several sections and it’s coolest down in the Gorge!

Great experience! The lower falls observation deck was a little crowded, but everywhere else was pretty open and spacious. This was our second hike of the day and seems like we had just missed the heavier traffic (about 9am). Easy incline, wide & well marked. Stunning views. Be sure to hit all the overlooks!!

Absolutely gorgeous. Only downfall is the stairs. A lot of them are partially broken. Make sure you visit all of the overlooks. Well marked for a easy journey.

This one allows you to see the lower falls with an amazing breathtaking view. Make sure the upper falls is seen first. It adds to the suspense of the lower falls.

Great trail. Went on a day that it was still raining, the trail was wet obviously but wasn’t too slippery. Went to the overlooks and it was beautiful. We were almost the only ones out there. The sun came out as we were getting back to the car and the parking lot was full. Would go again, bring a camera!

Extremely easy walk. Not sure why this and the Linville Falls Trail isn’t together. Probably won’t do this one again.
