Laughing Falls Trail is a 0.6 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Brevard, North Carolina that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until September.
Laughing Falls is a 50' cascade and is really nice, but the vegetation has closed in on it and there's not much room to move around or hang out comfortably.
From the intersection of U.S. 64, U.S. 276, and N.C. 280, drive 0.8 mile on N.C. 280 to Old N.C. 280 (S.R. 1361) on the left. Turn left onto Turkey Creek Road and continue a short distance to where the road forks, with Ivy Lane (S.R. 1400) on the left, the gravel Turkey Creek Road in the middle, and another gravel road marked with a blue sign marked WP 9 on the right. Take the middle road to stay on Turkey Creek Road and drive 0.7 mile to a fork in the road. Park here. Hiking Directions: The gated road to the left is F.R. 5060. Take the right fork for a short distance and cross the creek. After crossing the creek, take the gated logging road to the left. Hike 0.22 mile to a side path on the left that leads to the creek. It is necessary to rock hock and wade up the creek in order to see the falls.
Yeah it's a rough, overgrown trail with down trees and rough going, needs attention. BUT no one else on trail, it's short and if you catch the trail blazed down to rocks to see the falls (needed app) it is quite magical! AND ALONE!
You will need your machete. Park at the end of the street, go around gate on the right, get wet crossing the creek and trail is to the left. Another gate to go under and several blow downs. You won’t be able to get or really see the falls unless you blaze a trail to it. June 2020.
This trail has definitely been forgotten about. first off you have to climb over/under two locked gates to get to the trail. it's very overgrown in some places. it's very obvious nobody has maintained it in quite some time. If you can actually make it to the end the waterfall is quite beautiful.
Good trail. Had to walk through some water at the beginning, but good after that. Beautiful falls at the end. Nice short trail.
Very overgrown, you cannot see the falls at all, really. Trail is shaded, but there are lots of trees down and overgrown areas. Our family with a 2 year old did the trail, so it’s easy, but no pretty view at the end. Have to walk across the creek and turn left at the gate.
